How does 118 in a 34 MTI compare to other power packages on that same hull? Having a benchmark would go a long way in justifying $120k in motors.

The acceleration doesn't compare to 400Rs and they have put 12 mph additional on top end. If you can afford a new 340, you can justify the additional cost for the correct power package. Its been much faster then 118.

I was thinking more along the lines of $120k or more in I/O power, never doubted they would smoke 400R’s. My gut said 118 was slow but it looked like he had the throttles pegged. Then again he had 5 people and probably a full tank of fuel so 118 ain’t so bad No doubt there's more speed there.

No one buying something like this justifies anything, they just want to have bragging rights at the bar.

These big numbers you are seeing are not everyday numbers. 118mph a real number with a load. Our boat lose about 2mph for every 200lbs of weight. O/B cats are very weight sensitive. I love seeing all the hype but lets see the smoke clear and get some actual production motors on customers boats. I bet you will not see the numbers Mother Mercury put up. That same boat showed 113mph light with 300r motors. However JT ran it to the boat show in Feb and only saw 108mph down in here is FL. The Carbon Fiber MTI 340x factory boat ran I believe 115 or 116 at LOTO last year w/2 people, 400r's.
So for anyone who spent there life tweaking and playing boats here is the fact to ponder?????? How do you pick up 15mph to 20mph with only 100hp gain??? Not taking anything away from these beasts but for me the math does not work.

    Double
    Rigged
    308 Skater w/400r’s
    Over-Kill

    Hi!

Do anyone of you know if the 450R will be delivered with a different midsection. The midsection they use now is heavier than the trim ram version 300R has as option.

    cheers Toffen

It was not to long ago that a 32 ft cat with top of a line 300 horse Mercury's. had a hard time breaking a hundred miles an hour. of course I am talking about a pleasure boat. to me these speeds are phenomenal...120+ in a pleasure rigged outboard cat. Amazing
