    721 lbs!

    Bla, ha, ha!
They got all kind of awards for casting process in saving weight.

The weight of a small block with an Alpha drive.

The only difference is about 60 mph or so from the fastest stock small block alpha combo. Again, these were not designed or intended for small boats but Randy is always going and pushing outside the box. Very few single outboards will run with what he is setting up to run the river with "not talking about 1/4 mile drag boats"-but rather 50 mile lunch and dinner runs that encounter choppy water. I think that we now have a great single motor option for a 24 skater or similar hull.

Like I stated in another thread...two European, single outboard Vee bottom manufacturers have these and I look forward to seeing their uses. Right now it looks like they will be headed for 27 ft hulls. But that is speculation on my part right now.

I was thinking the same on the single 24, now that the liberators have small pods I would think that might make a very nice setup, hopefully Randy builds one someday.

Randy, I assume being a single engine application this weight does not include the steering plate needed for twin OB Cat applications? I bet that adds another 15lbs.

Correct Ron, it is disclosed in post #10. Base weight is 689 for the lightest model. H.D. parts, oil, steering, and wing plate are all additional to the base. It states that the wing plate is 13 lbs. additional.

That's pretty heavy stuff for a small O/B Cat 34' and under IMO. Looks like i have to wait for a possible 350r one day. I have already started saving!!!!!

I hear ya but brother. Running it and running it the ocean in 2-3's not quite the same thing LOL! Some of us have to go boating in less than ideal conditions unlike the St. John's!!!!! Which is awesome BTW.

I have an Allison XB21 with 300R. From the very first holeshot I could tell the R motor is much heavier than advertised. I very much appreciate you taking the time to do this kind of stuff Randy. I kept hearing the motor was virtually the same weight as my 300XS and I knew it couldn't be. In doing some digging I found your other post and verified it wasn't.

The performance of the motor is great. But on my hull things have had to change substantially to compensate for the added weight.

The Liberator shouldn't have an issue with the weight.
