It's the smell of kotz and rec 90 that will keep my man card secure in my pocket. You all just hand those to your wives to put in the glove box of her Prius when she drops you off to polish your transom while you wait for your new truck motor outboard.
It's just sad to see that 30 years later we need 200 more pounds, 2 more cylinders, and double the displacement. To make the same power.
I'm not " hating" I truly feel sorry for the whole boating community at mercs abandonment of true outboards. Especially those that think a mercruiser minus some u joints is the latest greatest end all be all gods gift to outboards.
I might be just the slightest bit jealous as I still have to keep digging in this pile of 2.5s to keep boating. I don't want a new boat, and there is nothing new to replace it. I would love to throw a brand new engine on and go, but it has been made abundantly clear that mercury couldn't care less about the repower needs of us who can't float 500 plus pounds on our transom.
The Japanese are making 4 cylinder 200hp. Merc needs 6, just saying.
Rant over, you all have fun, boat safe.

Actually, that's exactly what proves your man card is covering up for insecurities.
It's cool and all to talk about how a motor sounds, or how the 2 stroke oil smells, or whatever else, but at the end of the day, It's about the performance, the reliability, and the affordability. (at least for me)
I don't care if my boat sounds like a lawn tractor as long as it performs the way I'd like it to. I sure as hell don't care about how it smells.
