Louisiana Alligator Epidemic

I found my dream retirement house on lake Apopka, 4th largest lake in Fl. headwaters for the St Johns river.

Took wife there 30 days ago, She saw two Gators in the water, said no way am I moving here, It had a steel breakwall said I can put a fence on top of it, no way

she said

We have them cruise the shoreline on Sanibel Isl. Travel thru drain pipes that send overflow from the inland lakes to the gulf. It is comical to see a big gator come out of the water and just plop down on the beach with people there. Needless to say the tourists are not very happy about it and the gator trappers come out and collect them. Then the tourists get to eat them for dinner that night....

They way out of hand down here. Been protected forever and became a problem over 20 years ago. I have to watch when I walk outside. I try and take care of a few now and then.... LOL

What ya gotta do is show her how much some women pay for alligator shoes, belts and hand bags. Then say to her, see, you don't have to pay all that money you will have all the alligator ya want for free.

Yeah I don't get it. From what I read if a gator kills your dog your not aloud to kill it???

Laws need to be changed.

Down in the everglades we have a growing number of salties. Some are pushing the hi teens in length. They eat alligators as part of their food supply. They are big, mean, and green. Oh, and they don't run away when you happen upon them..........
