    Lower help

Was out testing today and as everything went good on the water I stressed my lower I guess , was prop testing and from what i seen only spun it to 6700ish maybe little more , I loaded the boat and as I walked by I spun the prop and heard a knocking sound , got home and Its definitely in the guts of lower , it's a 1.87 ratcheting case. What u rekon this sound is? Lower still works smooth and oil is clean. Bearing? Thus is also rite after a Lucas synthetic oil change. 2nd trip

Being oil was clean with no metal on plug, make sure shift cable adjustment is dead on and not causing clutch dog to be nicking either the forward or reverse gear when spinning prop shaft in neutral. Can be easily checked by moving the shifter slightly in both forward and reverse direction to see if noise goes away. If does no big deal adjust cable, if does not, suspect carrier bearing or needle bearing in forward gear. Remove prop and inspect carrier closely for cracks, generally show up in the 10:00 and 2:00 area from surfacing the cast small carrier.

In forward it should click. General statement. Keeps it from engine breaking when throttle down.

If you have the spring system hot springs will sometimes click in neutral.

Busted flow torque adapter will also sound odd

If ya find for sure your clutch dog isn’t making contact with either forward or reverse gear, it’s time to remove the carrier and inspect. When ya win the propshaft In neutral, the only thing your spinning is the shaft with the clutch dog attached in on two needle bearings, one in forward gear and one in carrier. Excessive end play in prop shaft indicates an issue. If your gonna be surfacing it, good idea to upgrade the carrier to a sportmaster/cle carrier or go billet like a Geiger tec. The Geigertec is the strongest option, but I noticed an approx 150-200 rpm loss on top end due to the added restriction from the thicker carrier with smaller exhaust holes. And this was with a mid that had (10) 5/8 holes instead of 1/2 drilled in it. But ya know what they say relieving exhaust is only for noise. So, I think I would just go with the sportmaster type. Also make sure carrier is tight, and keep an eye on it periodically. Surfacing puts lots of pressure in the carrier area, and if it starts moving around any, it ain’t good.

That almost with the parts shown needs the long adapter over shaft or is it short.

Grr I’m forgetting it’s like a piece missing or thin or something we would run into it with ft 1-3 long brass piece has one washer the short brass a different one and solids had a third. Most common was in out. But if you needed long or had a solid the washer didn’t have enough lip and allowed out of round play by the hub. I also messed one up with a cracked retainer

How did that new prop and carbs work.
Interesting cut on that four blade. Did it carry your boat on the pad better.

As far as I know its stock propco , seller wasnt aware of any work , I hadn't scoped it out to hard either. Prop works gud and will hold it up on pad , actually 1st time I felt it on pad so far is with this prop , handles great ,balances easy and no torque on pad with motor jacked up , carbs worked gud ,, seems like they helped my mota , idle not as clean but jets prob cure that, wot seems better
