Funny..this is Bill Grannis answer to Ove asking about the Evinrude girl in the picture..

Little miss Evinrude, as she was known as after the famous ad about her outrunning young men with their hard-charging Johnsons, had a long but sad life after becoming a model. She dabbled in the occult and became known as a Water Witch and ended up marrying a man named Scott McCulloch who claimed that he was a Wizard and a Viking in a past life and tried to convince everyone to call him Sea King. His job in the boating business caused them to move around often. Their favorite places were Muncie and West Bend. Over the years they had 4 sons, Fageol, Lockewood, Scott, and Atwater. Scott was a short and skinny guy nicknamed Mighty Mite but was a Champion in all sports that he participated in. Foegel died after only a few years but his mother called him her little Bear Cat. Little miss Evinrude was then blessed with a daughter in later years who she called Eska. She was kind of an airhead and very loud. Long after her mother was gone, she married an Elto Lauson, a self-proclaimed Buccaneer. Actually they eloped, packed up their Mercury and drove to Milwaukee during the strongest Gale on record before anyone knew they were gone. Her husband became known for inventing the burn-out proof lightbulb called the Homelite.

Not much is known about the now elderly woman, but she made her mark in the advertising industry when outboards were still a newfangled contraption. Her smile is second only to the Mona Lisa.

The Evinrude stylized ‘E’ logo – During the 50s, Books Stevens Evinrude’s Stylist, was testing various block E logos on his engine cover design concepts. (note the two lower photos in the montage) The first reveal of the well-know ‘stylized E logo’ appears in the 1959 Starflite photo found in the Brooks Stevens archives. (upper right in the montage) BROOKS STEVENS was one of the unsung stalwarts in OMC successes from the 40’s thru the 80’s. No other vender in the history of OMC had as much impact on our products as Clifford Brooks Stevens (1911 -1995). He was one of America’s most original and prolific industrial designers. Along with numerous automobiles Stevens designed motorcycles, railroad trains, pleasure boats, motor homes, appliances, office furnishings and, of course nearly every Evinrude Outboard and Snowmobile, plus various Cushmans and Lawnboys. In addition, he was responsible for styling all of the Gale sub-brands plus various Johnson outboard and snowmobile models. (Many of his hundreds of design illustrations & photos can be viewed online in the Milwaukee Art Museum archives.

Her favorite dish was Caille. Some say she was decended from the indian princess Hiawatha. Her later work was never able to Eclipse her modeling career. I am sorry to report she has since passed away and was cremated; all that is left of her is Ash.

CHARLIE STRANG CEO / OMC - YOUNG RACE DRIVER - Strang’s love of boating started at 10, when his mother took him to the 1931 New York Boat Show. He saw a Century Cyclone racing boat and fell in love with it. His mother finally bought one for him when he turned 15 in 1936. From then on, racing was his major passion. The next summer, he started racing and became a consistent winner. When World War II put an end to racing, he was the reigning New York state champion.

N-2 means he was the amateur champion for New York state as mentioned. I believe he was also intercollegiate champion just prior to WWII as well.

Yes, I been out driving an Aloha Tri-Toon all day with a Mercury 150 outboard..

Today was the first day at Lake of the Ozarks with a brand new Aloha Tri-toon powered by a 2019 Mercury 150 4 stroke.
I was surprised how good the 24 ft boat handled the strong wind.
The Merc 4 cylinder 3 liter engine was also very good.
We added 4 hours to the only “10 hour old” outboard.
Thanks Freedom Boat Club for a great day.
