BOAT JUMPING at CYPRESS GARDENS - This guy is truly nuts. Anyone who ever drove an early Ranger knows they were about as stable as a gorilla on roller skates. I can only imagine the landing!!

Well..today was supposed to be the start of the UIM F1 series 2019.
The sport I use to love is still doing the same old mistake.
You can not race tunnel boats on the ocean like the promotor asked us to do in Ampolla, Spain 1983.
Today the UIM F1 promotor asked the racers to race on the ocean in Dammem, Saudi Arabia..Not possible so the race was cancelled.
This is one of many reason why no outboard factory wants to get involved with outboard racing.

The new Johnson V6 2 liter looper build by OMC/Fred Hauenstein was way to strong/powerful for the Mercury boys.
Cees won the ON World title that weekend.

I use to own some waterfront property's in Port Charlotte close to Gasparilla Rd, not far from the former Mercury test station known as MerCabo (1971 - 2004) in Placida.
This was a beautiful place and I just read its gone now..!!.."The new owner bulldozed it, to make a bird sanctuary"

I have a funny feeling that one day the Ralph Evinrude Test Center in Stuart, Florida is going to be gone also.

A few years ago I took the time and stopped by MerCabo and took many pictures of this perfect place for anything marine..
The first picture is from Bernie Bergen but the rest are mine.
