I just book a ride and a thing with seats turns up and I get in, voice active it takes me to where i want to go then goes away and parks to charge or just waits in a carpark somewhere. Perfect for a city.
Will work if the whole city has only those types of vehicles, if want to go further you go to edge of town and pick up your car a in a garage

Street legal golf cart type vehicles LSV's are only used on streets up to 35mph posted, they need turn signals, we have lots of gated communities and anything goes in there.

But on the street, you must have a valid DL.

Our government just announced a $5000 credit for electric cars below a $45K Cdn price threshold. The Model 3 is $2K over, but the Bolt qualifies. The Model 3 and Bolt are the only ones with enough range for my workday. I could plug in at work for free.

Even with the $5K credit, the economics are marginal compared to just driving a used Miata, which is what I do. My calculation factors in resale value assumptions, and my driving habits, so it's personal. If I compared to a buying a new IC car, electric would make financial sense.

Electrics are closer to practical than I thought possible 5 years ago.

8 year warranty VW, by then the car is disposable like everything else today, or maybe not. Good for a few more.

Responsible front line companies are doing just that to insure elements are reclaimed, part of the business model.
