AGM batteries don't like to be over charged.... they tend to overheat and split.

That 9 amp system is the same as my 1986 InLine 115. AGM batteries will cost you lots of stators and rectifiers and possibly a switchbox or 2. I run 3 batteries on a bass boat using 2 for TM and all accessories. I have a switch that I can tie one TM battery to the cranking battery when the voltage starts climbing after a fairly long run. The 225 takes a LOT more cranking than my 115 so you don't want to drain the cranking battery. A real bi*ch to rope start. So use 2 lead acid batteries, Wal-Mart makes good marine batteries cheap, and charge BOTH when you get home. My Wally-Werld batteries are over 5 years old and in great shape because I keep them charged and full of DISTILLED water. And there's a Wall-Mart EVERYWHERE if you need a replacement
I carry a gun because a cop won't fit in my pocket.

Read over charging part, CDI also does not recommend AGM or dry cell batteries

I think it’s the mega stereo systems taxing the battery then the stator heats up trying to charge and goes boom I don’t have a stereo in any of my boats so I’m going with that lol
