YEa my pickup truck does similar speeds too but it’s not a cat. I’ll stick with my previous statement single engine Cats suck. Drive in a single then a twin and get back to me.

Getting back now. I rigged my boat both ways. I prefer it with the single. Acceleration is all I’ve lost and let’s face it....if max acceleration was all our goals then we’d all have jet boats.

Acceleration isn’t a problem in your boat. A 24 Skater it is a problem Getting through the hop is a serious problem. Especially when the ole lady is bitchin the whole time

For one reason or another, my boat hopped with twins and hops with a single. The hop speed changed some; now it’s 65-75. It will hop 5-10 times at wot while passing through. I found a 0.100” hook over the last 6” of pod that may have contributed, but I’m removing it now.

Any air entrapment hull will have a spot iwhere it switches from hyd lift to air. A 10mph hop window is tunnel boat problems that’s great. my 500lb tunnel has a 15mph window if you try to cruise there but Again 24 Skater different animal. We have set up a couple real cats and it’s different.

My 23 Daytona had no hop the last 2 feet of hook removed. I would not like it with a single motor unless it was Least 500 hp and 700 pounds

What if you don't have enough HP to get through the HOP? haha that's my problem now.

I am currently rigging my 24 Skater with twin 250 Optis, 300X Mids, 1.62 Sportys and Dewald props. I have moved the batteries to the forward bulkhead, eliminated the secondary boost pumps and mounting the motors directly to the transom instead of going with 15" mids and jackplates. By the time I lost the Opti weight with the 15" mids, I was adding it back with the jackplates.

There is simply no comparison to the fuel economy with the Optis and these boats ran 110+ with old school Carb'd 200hp mercs and 3-blade cleavers. With today's prop technology, lightweight batteries and canbus rigging, I can remove unnecessary weight with ease. Now if I could only build a carbon reinforced aluminum tie-bar... I could remove another 20# from aft of the motors!!

I will also look into running Carbon motor cowls to reduce the weight and replace the metal trim pump systems with later Volvo systems which have a greater pressure/flow with lighter composite body.

We rigged a buddies 24 with twin 15” 250 Etec 1.62 sportys. We put the batteries in front of the bulkhead and it was better. it ran 109 on limiters needed more prop. Got on plane like a Jetski and easily powered through the hop full of fuel and 4 people.

I like your set up with batts up front and XSs mounted straight on the back, as of now my plan is 300XSs , No 300X, 260 , 250 but if I'm buying 300XSs motors used for 18k why not 300Rs ??? If I chg boats I take the motors with me,

Pair of wing plate 300r will be over $50k and not available for a couple months.

Pair of used 300xs can be had for much less than half that.

Id go with the R if you can swing it but be prepared to spend another 5-10k on props.
