    Remote Pilot's License (Drone)

Anyone have one? Fixing to get mine. I am tempted to take it without studying at all just to see if I could pass. It is a multiple guess test after all... And a back ground test I will pass.

A friend of mine has one but I've never asked him about the test. I'm no good at flying any kind of remote control anything!

I think Big Brother has over stepped their boundaries. FAA mandates everyone flying anything model airplane related gets an FAA assigned # and your supposed to put this number on anything you fly. (like a drivers license #). Also, the definition of "Drone" irritates me. Like, is my Sopwith Camel model with an old 1.20cc two stroke nitro motor considered a drone?
Stupid "LICENSE" to fly a toy. Dumb dumb dumb.

can you tell I'm triggered? haha. I find it funny when I see spam email about "Certified, licensed, drone pilot photographer". LOL.

I was thinking I could make some side money off realtors, etc.

Unless you have a camera and telemetry on that Camel, I don't think it is considered a drone. Plus I can confidently fly mine a mile away without worrying about loosing it.

For surveying etc you can't beat it. But when I'm sitting quiet in the boat or the deck and some tourist is buzzin one overhead it's almost shotgun time.

Given Amazon wanting to deliver with drones its prob a good thing there are regulations, hate to see what one of those carrying someone's package does when it gets sucked into a passenger plane turbine cause he was in the wrong airspace

They do great survey work. Not quite a SR71 or U2 but gravity always wins.

I just got my Part 107 FAA Pilots License for unmanned aircraft. It was a ridiculous test if you ask me. Any drone use for commercial purposes needs one to fly legally. You can't fake this test. You need to be able to read sectional charts to pass. It essentially had nothing to do with the drone itself, but all the FAA rules and regulations. So it's the same info as if your training to become an actual pilot. I went to a local skills aviation center at an airport to take the test. It was way overboard if you ask me.

I found it on line and that is exactly what my conclusion was. I took several aviation classes on college, and it looked more like the written test for a private ticket to me!!!

    Thanks!

I took the Drone Pilot Ground School class(provided for through my work) The 5 practice tests they have are what I focused on the most. I got an 86% on the test. There were 3 cops in the test facility when I was there. Only 1 of the 3 passed.
