    Somebody posted this pic

This picture was posted a few days ago, I believe it is of a factory blueprinted Allison.
Does anyone know the width from the two strakes shown?
I have a Glasspar G3 screaming for a pad bottom.

    Thanks in advance, NP

That was on a GS. Really suprised to see Allison send that boat out the door with a primer finish!! Most Ally bottom pads are between 10-12 inches if i remember correctly.

Thank-you for your effort Wll, my boat has no outer strakes or pad.
What I'm looking for would be the width of the pad in the picture. (edge to edge, or drain to right edge + drain to left edge)
I'm not sure if I'm going to put the outer strakes on it, .... yet.

    Thanks again, NP

btw, did you hurt yourself (too much turkey)

The slightly rough surface of the primer helps break the surface tension of the water or something like that...it's faster that way than with slick paint! Same reason you'll see a similar finish on lower units, the lower half of the "torpedo" anyway. Often chalkboard paint is used in that application. Supposedly faster!

Hi Will, I would get that drain fitting replaced. The drain tubes are really easy to install through the transom when the tank and trays are removed. Moeller Marine has them for around $6 and the Moeller flairing tool is $10 from West Marine. I use 3M 5200 to seal them. I've done 10 or so in the last 3 years and all went easy. The key to the flairing/flange tool is that you will need a helper to hold the inside bolt while you turn the nut on the outside for the squeeze. I apply a little grease on the flaring tool that creates the flare to the straight/cut end for a smooth radius. Gordon

Exactly right. I use Moly Kote on the threads of the tool and on the flaring part but I'm sure grease does fine too.
