Agreed; the 650X appears in the early 1973 edition of the Hi Perf catalog. The later edition of the '73 catalog refers to the 700X, which appears to be the same motor.

Mod 50 motor I guess? Ran a 650 in 72 and 73. Was competitive the few times we ran it in SE on light tunnel boat. Struggled with it on my heavier EP boat. Just didn't have the grunt the OMC loopers had. Eventually the motors ran up against internal air flow issues and that was it. They just couldn't get around the tortious intake air path of that reed design

The 650X and 700X, like the 650XS, use the 3 carb straight in front
