CT River Run Photos
It's been a long time since I attended the CT River Run and I really miss it. Actually, the CT River Run was the first out-of-state event that I ever attended, so it's pretty special to me. I'm really happy to see that this event is alive and well, and I hope I'll be able to attend it again soon. There are photos of this event from previous years in the Photo Gallery section as well.

Hydrostreams were well represented. When is the run usually held? It is close enough that I could tow the Cougar there to attend next year.
Thanks for a great site

Guys, I love these Hydrostreams. I've never ridden/driven one, only seeing them growing up and occasionally on a trailer. Many years ago, I wanted one and had started looking for a V-King, but never pulled the deal together.
Here are my 2 questions -
1) What is the fastest production model of Hydrostream made with say a 225 Promax? I've always wondered how the VT and YT bottoms compared. I had read somewhere that the HST models demanded high-horsepower to perform well, is this true for all tri-hull Hydrostream models?
2) How would this model compare to an Allison XB2002 in terms of performance? I ask this because I gave up on the Hydrostream and bought a new XB2002 Allison.
Love the Photos! Gordon

If you already have an xb2002 I think most would agree that a ‘stream is a downgrade. On the other hand nothing else has that “look!” If you’re going to redo one a V-King really is the only way to go. Not only do the ride and handle better than the others, the core is much simpler to replace. A Vector may be faster power being equal but it will be a much less friendly boat. A V-King can be fast and still do the family thing!
The XT, YT, and HST are kinda a different animal. The V-king and Vultre “Mod VP” hulls still have the classic look, the Vegas and Valero (and their bowrider coubterparts) Have a more modern look. The 20’ bottom really benefits from the rearward seating position of the later decks. The HST is a different animal altogether. Many of these boats had core adhesion and other structural issues right from the factory. Many were recalled and “repaired” to various extents. The quality of any old Hydrostream varies from boat to boat depending on who was doing the work that day (and probably how much they had to drink the night before)! Some were better than others, some were fixed correctly, some weren’t...Josh Peterson

I own an HST. I know on hydrostream.org they write the HST needs a lot of hp to go fast. Mine has a 97 200 merc. Motor has never been apart. Only ccms reeds. Best speed to date is 96,3 mph and probably has a bit more in it. I like it a lot. It's a stable predictable boat. Only downside is that it is very weight sensitive.
