KAMINC was a holding company that owned Mercury. KAMINC sold Mercury to Brunswick, but Kiekhaefer kept KAMINC.
For a long time I wondered why controls and a few other accessories were sold under the KAMINC name along side of the same stuff sold by Merc under the Quicksilver name. This probably explains it - Kiekhaefer wanted to sell the accessories to Western Auto customers but keep the Quicksilver name exclusive to Mercury.

The last 44 I raced was a 1975 manual start 500. It was very similar to my first one, a 1963. Raced a lot of miles in front of those 44s. Still have a soft spot for them.
