Megan Update as of Yesterday. Looks like stomach surgery is next. They can't get feeding tube in because her stomach is up behind diaphragm. If they don't do surgery they have to go between her ribs. Very painful. Get results of MRI tomorrow hopefully. Waiting for her to stabilize some more.

Megan Update 9/27/18 3:30 pm- Unfortunately, today has not been a good day. It is with heavy hearts, we are letting you know that the doctor's have broken the news to Deb and Mike that they were hoping to not ever hear. The results of the MRI of her brain have come back. During Megan's 45 minute long cardiac arrest, she suffered severe hypoxia, resulting in brain damage. At this point there is no further information available as to if or what a potential recovery could be or permanency of damage. Megan is awake and breathing, but not responding. Right now the doctors are planning surgery to implant a pacemaker/defibrillator. They must see how she does with that before any transfer to long term care facility. Deb and Mike are contemplating resources available to eventually moving Megan back home for long term care. This would obviously be several weeks out, but we are beginning to plan for this now.

    Statement From The Family

The tremendous support, prayers and words of encouragement has been unbelievable for all of Megan's family. We appreciate everyone's support, but now must ask for your prayers more than ever. As bad as the last week has been, it is only the beginning of a long road ahead of us. Although every call, text and message to the family is appreciated, we respectfully request that you refrain from doing so at this time. Thank you for watching this page for your updates as well as sharing. To date, this page has been shared 2482 times and viewed 32,261 times.

That is indeed very sad to hear. It is sometimes hard to realize how quickly one's life can change and how drastic that change can be. Be thankful for even the little things in life and don't take anything for granted. I will continue to pray for Megan and hope for a full recovery. I will. also pray for Mike and his family as they need any and all support possible. Above all, keep the faith. Miracles happen every day.

Latest Update on Megan: 10/1/18 0930am- Good morning all. This is the latest update on Megan. Yesterday her doctor advised that, although they are not sure how much damage has been done to her brain, they are hopeful for improvement. Other than her pacemaker, her age and general health should help her tackle the long recovery ahead of her. They are currently making plans to insert a Pacemaker/Defibrillator. After that, arrangements will be made to move her to a long term rehab facility. The family is hoping to find a suitable location closer to Ocean County for this.

    Message from the Family

Thank you to all have donated, made calls, and prayed for Megan. Thank you to the Berkeley Twp. PBA for their fundraiser this past weekend and all who attended. There will be more events planned in the near future. Lastly, thank you for checking back here for continued updates.

Very easy to donate at the link to the Go Fund Me. Name, email, NEXT and enter credit card info and amount. $5, $10, $20 adds up. I've never used Go Fund Me and was surprised how fast and easy. I hope more of our boating family can help. Take a weekend off from boating and donate HERE:

Megan Update as of 10/3/18 330pm- My apologies for the delayed update. Megan is making albeit small, but positive improvements. An Occupational Therapist has begun working with her. They started working on swallowing and she was able to learn to get applesauce down. They are contemplating downsizing her trach tube. She is also working with Physical Therapy, who has outfitted her with braces so her hands, arms and feet do not contract. Each passing day she is seemingly slightly more alert and following small, simple commands. Today, her progress does not appear to be as great the previous few days. However, we realize that this will be a long road ahead with plenty of ups and downs. Thank you for following along with her updates.

Megan Update as of: 10/6/18 1pm- The latest update for Megan.. they took the triple lumen out today. She is having her IV's restarted. Currently she is running a high temperature but her white count is good. They just did a chest x-ray and we are awaiting those results to see if the pneumonia has cleared yet. Blood cultures and lab work done and awaiting results. They will no implant the new pacemaker/defib until this has cleared.

Megan Update as of: 10/10/18 3pm- Good news to report today!!! To update over the last few days. Megan has had a bronchoscopy and had her trach tube reduced to a smaller size. Her Cardiologists feel that the initial issue was caused by a cardiac event and may have been tied to a reaction to a new medication prescribed a few weeks ago. At this time, they do not feel that it is warranted to place a new pacemaker/defibrillator so there is nothing more for Temple to do. She is running a slight fever today, but they are hoping for a discharge within the next few days. At that point, she will be moved to a Rehab Hospital closer to home. We will still continue to restrict visitors to immediate family only, until she is strong enough to take on the tons of people wanting to visit her! She is starting to react to Deb and Mike (but who wants to wake up to their parents!?!? LOL), and is trying to speak. So far, she is already working with a speech therapist and managed to get out a "Hi!".

Megans update as of 10/12/18 6pm- The news seems to be getting progressively better!! Physical therapists have already started working with Megan. Yesterday they had her sitting up on the bed while supporting her. They also stood her up briefly and she was able to bear most of her own weight. Today she was discharged from Temple University and moved to a Rehab facility. She is not even close to being ready for visitors, so at this time we are choosing to not disclose the location of this facility. During the move we were even able to arrange a quick visit from Murphy!! His kisses brought a smile to her face (sshhh, don't tell the Doctors!).

She still has a very long road ahead of her and although we are expecting some setbacks along the way, the progress she has made within the past month has been unbelievable, considering her condition 4 weeks ago!! We thank everyone for their continued thoughts, prayers and positive comments as they are definitely working. The tremendous amount of concern everyone has expressed has been overwhelming. To date, this GFM page has been shared 4357 times and has been viewed 47512 times!! We cannot thank everyone enough!!
