I would think that an inspection or replacement of the needle seat first before running.

there is a fitting next to tha vacuum fitting for tha pressure regulator on tha back of tha plenum.. it has a small hole in it.. that's an overflow for tha vst.. you get fuel dripping and or squirtin' from tha small hole when there is a problem with float and/or needle n seat problem causin' overflow...
I had same problems on and off with tha early lasers.. once was tpi.. next time was injectors and ecu.. nothing but black goo drippin' outta tha gear case exhaust.. terrible lookin' plugs.....Last edited by tlwjkw; 09-07-2018 at 08:43 PM.

Thanks for all help. what is that hose running from oil pump to brass elbow on bottom of vst? if i pull it off oil drips down hose a litttle. if i try to blow into elbow or try to pulll vacuum orifice seems blocked. bad diaphragm in mech pump would explain why elect pump seems to be cycling more often than usual, gas oil has to be going somewhere! does this theroy sound like it could possibly cause the sludge/ flooding soon as i crank it over? primer blub pumps up hard if thats helpfull. cracked remote tank cap still flooding and removed black/yellow wire no change even put old ecu back on, no change.

the hose sends oil to vst all the symptoms point to flooding.open injector or needle seat leaking.

hey, gotta learn somehow. I have learned the same way. Just follow logic, same as doing a holley 4 bbl. on a sbc. Too much fuel and oil. internal fuel leak.

How about the pulse fuel pump. Any check of that been done? If torn it will send fuel right into the motor. A backfire or just old pump will be the cause of it failing.

I DONT agree oil is not mixed in mech pump on efi, it flows in vst where elect pump pulls from. rebuild kit for carb oil inj, diaphram has 2 extra holesfor oil inj. hose from oil pump goes directly into vst via lower ck valve on efi motors. i did do the mech pump anyway and it fired up, no smokand stayed running! thank u. ran the p... out of it today. i love the scorpion prop what super lift whole boat just pops up a little loose i like it. 1 issue when it hits about 5000 5400 it stops pulling no missing just noses over. if i back down ,idle for a while, plane off pedal down it will haul azz to 6000 but soon start to back down slightly just when its really aired out, frustrating. tony set my acu for 130 psi. i have now 150. i can fatten it up by turning the dial on box. what do u think, havent looked at plugs after today. dead idle seems a little fat. THANKS, ART MAG-CAT 62

DO u mean mech oil pump? pulse valve below starter?

yeah.. but after thinkin' bout it even when tha oil goes to tha mech pump (carb motors) it enters tha fuel line "ahead" of tha mechanical pump so that would eliminate that being a place where raw oil could get in.. only leaves one place... keep in mind that I haven't even looked at a merc of any kind for several years now and memory sucks!
