Ford makes more profit on the f150 than on all its other models COMBINED! If not for CAFE regs they would have quit building cars long ago. Now that it looks like CAFE will be backing off there's no reason to keep the profit sucking cars around!

The ONLY thing Ford is stopping is the importation of the Focus Active crossover.
" For Ford, the vehicle would have been largely a niche seller, with less than 50,000 sales projected annually. But as the Focus would have been imported from China, the tariffs would have eaten into Ford's profits too much – so the automaker refocused, for the lack of a better term."
To put that into perspective Ford usually sells 100K Mustangs in a year.

Ford had decided to make changes in it's line up before anything Trump did with tariffs.

On a brighter note, Ford is going to offer the Ford GT in the Heritage Edition Gulf Racing colors.

Funny thing really. The most practical utilitarian vehicle anyone can own is a pick up truck, large SUV, or a van. Yet most Liberals think they are the type of vehicle ruining the world so we must rid them, and buy some new useless junk. Meanwhile most of us gear heads take very good care of our trucks and we own them much longer than the average Liberal owns their junk boxes and Trucks live the longest used market of any vehicles ever plus all the great work they do, even for Liberals as no home was ever built without pick up trucks.

So considering the minimum carbon impact of building one and making it last vs replacing it with some so called "green" junko 5 year car that wastes far more carbon to keep building yet these people, ARE GREEN?

They're green alright, around their gills

My 5.0 400 hp truck gets 16-17 avg mpg and it will do anything asked of it. Nice enough to take the wife out to dinner, and tough enough to pull a decent sized load up a long hill. What else can do that? No dinky camry that's fer sure.....Ford is reading the cards and as usual, is ahead of the curve.....What they charge for their vehicles is another story.

Remember too, Ford was the only mfg to not take fed buy outs!

Also appears Tesla is on the ropes.

Eight yrs of government subsidies to them and its buyers and ZERO profit.
    EVER!

Anyone see the story of Elon Musk freaking out at their last board meeting
Guaranteed the board, profit by end of this yr and they aint even close.
Based the projections on their new small "affordable" car w/projected price in low $30's.
Truth is, theyre ramping up to only build luxury versions of them, which will be in the $50's

The company also has leakers alleging cars being shipped w/defective & damaged batteries etc.

In other words, their ship as a massive leak and is now listing.

Was a recent story in our local paper about an electric car owner dealing w/the reality of living w/one.
    First truthful report Ive seen!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

For those living in dense urban city the practicality of a 400hp pickup isn't high on the list. A roomy well built sedan to a little eco compact for city driving is by far the choice. Electrics even better.
Was speaking with a Chev EV owner, has had his for years, high milage, salty winters, perfect car, pennies to run.

How does it work stuck in traffic with heater/AC/defroster on??

That was point made in local paper.

He liked his but said had to plan trips based on above + range and he felt it was relegated
    to 2nd car status.
Based on that, what are we really saving?
Add insurance to the list of costs.

Im paying $600. a yr for a $5k, 13 yr old station wagon!

Or is Elon sinking the company shares so he can buy them up ? He’s eccentric to say the least but he’s not cerebrally challenged

He claims no drivability issues even on snowy nights stuck in bumper to bumper traffic jams with the defrost heater , wipers going, loves it.
In your case the paid for reliability etc are bonus but one day maybe you'll need a replacement. I have a neighbour with a new Chev EV, two years. Snappy fast in traffic, stupid cheap to run down the road, says prefers it to his BMW.
For the long extended trips it's limiting but not impossible. Even rural living going to town etc , great. Chev had a good hybrid Tahoe a few years back, still see them driving around.

No doubt that he is brilliant.

When the first rocket landed in a barge, upright, in the middle of the Atlantic......., only way I could reconcile it was comparing to science fiction.
    Absolutely amazing.
