Go on Facebook, find the Hydrostream power tour guys. They'll get you set up. My favorite stream is the voyager.ight be a bit big for what you want, but it's the family truckster of performance boats.
Good luck in your search.

Don’t rule out buying a stream in Canada. Our dollar is low up here and there a fair amount of boats around. Ontario is a bit of a hot spot for streams.

Well he did not mention if he wants to cruise by himself or with how many others ? guess that is the question on what boat would be more suited for his application?

Had a little break in the weather.. sitting at the confluence of the Ohio and the Muskingum. I would like to have room to have one passenger , 2 dogs and a cooler. I was only looking at the first page of the 20-foot hull section. I assumed it the second page and on was very old ads. It's looking like I would be better off selling my motor and buying a boat already rigged. Not necessarily in that order. The suggestion of the Facebook page is a good one, however I have never become a member so I will have my son get me on there.
The prop on my boat is older than my ex-wife.

A Canadian Spaeth built Vking would be a wise choice.

If I was loking for a Stream I would really look hard for a nice Viking. 17' 9" of more fun than you can imagine. Handle great and with enough power be all you want or need. Vector would be my second choice and Viper my third. There are many more models but as posted earlier all of the older ones should have the core inspected by a pro.

Voodoo.. I grew up in Shelby's, 442s and Corvettes. We pulled Blown Alcohol pulling trucks, she could stand in the pits and tell you who's truck was running. She is actually the one that started the hydrostream hunt, she didn't want me trying to use a Baja hull and outperform the design.Anyone here familiar with a Correct Craft by the name of"Pussy Cat"? I literally grew up in that boat.It was one of the first out of the factory I was always told. I don't want to mention the owner's name, but anyone familiar with the boat would know why. lol I was out changing the batteries on ski ramps by the time I was 5 years old. She will be traveling to Akron with me to inspect a Vector as soon as a schedule can be put together with the owner.

I was going to mention that your mother's knowledge of wood boat work may not help, but I think you have figured that out. I agree with the comment earlier that half a percent of old 'Streams will not need a core, stringers and transom. The $1,000 boat on the link above says new floorboard and transom--no good, that nice new floorboard is sitting on rotten stringers and rotten core. As important, if you buy a boat already rebuilt, is to know who did it and either review a detailed build thread on here or a build book with photos of every stage, or get solid advice that the person doing the work knew what they were doing. As you have discovered, a new transom, stringers and recore is a ton of work, requires patience and care to be done well, and a poor job can leave you with a twisted hull before it starts rotting again. I love my Vandal, and one of these days (probably after I retire) the rebuild will be completed and it will be great, but any original Hydrostream will need that work.
Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

It doesn’t matter which model you choose just do research and pick a model you think is pretty and are willing to dump money into. This hobby is crazy expensive when you get the speed bug!

I think its a great idea to start with a 150 then later after you get seat time and learn how to drive you can upgrade to more HP more speed and fly.
Congratulations on choosing to buy a Stream!

My Vector with a stock xr6, save for CLE, solid mounts and oil injection delete will run mid 80s on 87 octane all day long...damn rev limiter.
