That's too bad about the engine going. Sounds like you got an upgrade though. Let me know how your setback works with the 3.0.

I had it up to 69 mph on the GPS speedo with the 200. I'll start with the same 24 pitch Trophy prop to give it an accurate test. According to the Mercury Prop Slip calculator, I was down to about 4% slip.

Here is episode 9 of Project Activator, we look at the floor and the tank is installed. Last week we posted some pictures of new Livorsi gauges, but we changed our mind on the size and color, so we talk about that too.

And, we disclose the color we are painting it, plus a hint as to what engine we got. See if you can guess.

Some more pictures and details here: https://www.wavetowave.com/home/2018...r-installation

Here's an example of the gauges we originally got, can you see the white ring between the dial and the rim? It kind of changed the look for me. The new oversize ones with the platinum dial will look better I think.

Back in the water with the 225 3.0 liter carbed Mercury. First day out 73 mph/GPS with the Trophy 24 pitch. I had the tach set wrong so it was reading low. Going from the 20" 2.4 liter to the 25" 3.0 liter totally changed the attitude of the boat.

Great, how did it handle. That's a huge change.

As per the episode, the tank was installed, foamed in. Hoping we can turn the boat over soon and start getting the the hull repaired and blueprinted.

The 3.0 liter made it lift the bow more with less trim from the weight difference, and the hole shot better with the extra torque. A little more flighty at top end.

Yes, in this case the coating isn't really necessary because of the way it is installed. It should last 40+ years this way. I'm pretty old, so much longer than I will last.

The new gauges arrived. I think they're going to look way better. Boat will be silver.

So it's a Mercury or Evinrude then.

Any updates on the build? Now that we know it's an Evinrude, but what horse power did you go with? Looks like a 300 on the vin number.
