You can do all the homework Joe and i agree with building a new boat that would be the motor of choice for your build. Problem is all the homework is based on Mercury's information?????
I will wait for the real world information. If you remember the 300xs was to be better than the 300x also when it came out. It did beat the X on fuel mileage but that was about it.
Don't get me wrong I like the new motor as well as the potential. Just not worth spending the coin for me at this time. Waiting for HP per $$$$ spent LOL!

I believe we are seeing the replacement for the 400R which is nearly maxed out on boost for a 2.6 liter.
At 14 lbs of boost Mercury would attain the holy grail of outboards, 1 hp per lb of outboard weight. Would give STV performance to the current offering of 21' tunnels. The phrase "Have your cake and eat it too" comes to mind. STV performance in a more practical and safer 21' boat. I'd spring for this every day and twice on Sunday.

Ya gotta know that if Mother Merc release a new product at 300 hp they already have an idea of what it can be. Couldn't sound any better in my opinion. Good post Randy.
