OK you Mercury I6 experts, I need your help! The pictured motor is a collection of parts that came from collection of race items from Dave Packer out of Rome, NY. I'd like to know more about the 2 into 1 exhaust shown, especially the details of the exhaust chest components. Is it similar to the 3-stack factory system, with fillerblock and manifold? Any details would be appreciated. I want to put this back together as accurately as possible. It does NOT have any of the parts that would integrate the exhaust pipes to the motor's block. HELP!!! - Roger

Jim, It was purchased for parts as it was a display motor for a museum...and not complete inside - especially the exhaust manifold items.

The exhaust pictured above was designed for the C6 and first raced in Havasu in 1970. Dr. Ted Morgan had two open pipe exhaust systems fabricated for the Morgan six carb inline, a single pipe and a twin pipe. The single pipe was not , repeat not the system used when Merten set the single engine outboard record in 1973 ..... the two pipe system proved to give him a little more top end.

Answers to your questions regarding this system are already documented on the 'Hot Singles' thread. Start with post #1697 talking about the single pipe and continue through #1721 which contains pictures of the system not assembled to the block. Hope this helps.
