    260 cdi - rev as far as you like
    280 inductive ignition - not great for high revs but much better everywhere else

    No port diff?
    I would think something had to change for merc to rate it @ 20 more hosses and yet spin an alternator?

    I've owned both. 280 also has higher stock compression.

    Keep in mind, it was rated at 260 in 91' by time the A48 digital box came along dyno's were showing much improvement.
    But from what I know, slightly better exhaust chest, lower exhaust port timing and 15 to 20#s more compression.
    Fwiw, red boat 260's, white boat 280's.
