I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

!0 year old engines bring 7 to 10k? What happened to the 3500 engines I guess i'm getting old. I have never paid that much for entire rig but then again I run them not trailer queens nor lookers(humpties)

In the Keys for the week and nothing yet.
Cuda, saw both of those.
Got educated on e-tecs and in '09 they added knock sensors which I want.
Unfortunatley our 4 yr old chocolate lab got a nasty infection in his back leg and besides loosing all toes on that foot it also wiped out 1/2 the motor fund and that ended the e-tecs and puts me back on carb motors.
Rick, clean carbed motors are running $2500-$3500, Optis and e-tecs are 2 to 3 times that.
And don't feel bad. Like u, only way I can afford this hobby is to buy junk and fix it.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

16 carbs ...thats like flushing the toilet everytime you step on it....I know I got one... DANIA not what it used to be..most marine flea markets are new vendors with retail crap not marine parts...and then they want retail prices for 20 yr old parts...we have a " SURPLUS marine connection" here in FT PIERCE, got lots of stuff but prices are extreme...I buy offshore HD metal pick-up tubes (KIT) for fourty bucks cause I cant get them anywhere else for that price, good for finding miss-matched guages, but most of the stuff is like gold to them and the walls are buldging out...surplus my ass...
