    93/ 135 black max

Good morning all , this is my first post so here it goes ... I have a 1993 black max that I bought new in 93 has run great as I use it to guide salt water fishermen in the state of Maine, this year I started having problems with the auto oiler . after shutting down the engine oil would fill my carb bowls and fill my gas line making for very poor starting I am thinking it may be an O ring or something but do not know , I need a little help to either fix or remove the system and premix oil and gas thanks

guess I asked wrong question here goes , what would make the oil pass into the gas system when I shut down motor ? I feel the pressure in the system has a leak somewhere any ideas ? I will be removing the system and mixing my oil and gas as I do not trust the system anymore .

Hello...and welcome! Been awhile since I have messed with the Merc oil injection...but there is a check valve inline at the TEE fitting where the oil line from the oil injection pump and the gas line from your gas tank meet right before entering the fuel pump. That check valve keeps gas from entering your oil line/pump when you pump the primer bulb on initial startup. If that inline check valve is stuck open it will allow oil from the reservoir (motor) oil tank to constantly gravity feed into your fuel line while the motor is off. And when your motor is off your gas tank will slowly pull the fuel in the fuel line back into the gas tank along with all the oil leaking past the check valve filling your main fuel line with straight oil. So your next pumps of the primer bulb will be sending straight oil into your carbs...which it sounds like what you got going on there. Otherwise your oil injection would seem to be functioning fine with the exception of that check valve. Should be a relatively easy and inexpensive fix.

I don't blame you...peace of mind outweighs a few minutes of mixing any day...
