    As long as everything is post 1972 its all bolt up. There are 2 different 1983 115's. One is 115 and one is 150 - or you could say one is 90 and one is 115.

    There is nothing to mod on a inline. Get a 150/140/late 115 and buy props.

    thanks ! ill put the 83 on for now, and rebuild the 88 powerhead, is there anything to be said for Boyesen Reeds and Wiseco Pistons, polishing ports ?

    Do NOT use reeds other than stock unless you plan on taking the motor apart every few hours. There is no performance advantage to any aftermarket reeds in an inline, but there is a huge maintainance increase with fiberglas and carbon fiber reeds. The steel reed design adopted in the 1970 inlines is as good as you can get.

    Because it's not going to need it? They make high and low also boost ports .

    Cast pistons are more stable dimensionally. In this application especially with a free flow cooling system where the temps are all over the place from idle to wide open.
