    Broke my carrier bearing

Out trying out my new worked SRX yesterday for a few hours and got back to the ramp and seen my carrier was broke with the ring all out and floopn around. Gears and bearing still all look good. Now what do i need to know about fixing this? Just get the same part and shove it back in? The threads still look good. Not sure why it would have broke. Was hitting some good size waves. Enough to make the "boys" slap the seat pretty good.

I see it's broken in top. If you are surfacing it, I would change to a sportmaster/ CLE type carrier. The upward thrush will break the fishing carriers, the hipos have more meat around them. Or you can get a billet carrier like from Gieger Tec, but will slow you down due to restricted exhaust, unless you open up exhaust in can to make up for it.

I'm running a slightly modified 200 with can gone, dry stacked, and the 10 5/8 holes drilled in bottom of can and when I went to the gieger still lost 3 mph. These things do not like back pressure, especially with any significant amount of mods. I'm thinking about swapping it out for a sportmaster type or sending my gieger to my Machinest to get some milled out from around center hub. Think it would still be stronger than a hi po carrier. Btw the reason I went to the gieger is I cracked my stock carrier and slung off the propshaft with prop because of it, the reason I'm aware of what you are going through. You where lucky to be able to keep it all in tact. Thank the good Lord!

What is white "powder" on lower?
Could forward gear have pushed the carrier out ? The pinon gear to forward gear engagement would have a thrust towards the rear- right? add a little wave jumping .....

Your pinion gear looks like is nearing it's end of life. You mite want to check the clearence on the bottom drive shaft bearing as well.

Drill your prop shaft for a cotter pin while you're at it so you don't lose your prop.

The boat was running fine. I never knew it was broken untill i took the boat out of the water and saw the retainer flopping around the front of the prop.got home and pulled the prop off and pulled out the carrier by hand. And sprayed it all down with WD 40.. slid the carrier back in and prop on for the pics.
