Craig accepted the decision and has no axe to grind with Al and Frank and is still friends with them, it's this cranky old bastard that questions the findings-------nothing wrong with telling it the way it is.

Yes, I am still passionate about boat racing-------I lived and breathed it for over 50 years and still do.
I think I've earned the right to comment, so I'm exercising that right! Have a nice day Lassie.
    Well Jackie,

Here is the P1 SuperStock US schedule for 2017 showing 5 races.
Not sure how you can win 8..??
Also a picture of the 2016 schedule showing four races.
I been to four P1 SuperStock races and the last one Carina refused to go because the racing with only eight under powered offshore type boats is as boat builder David Burgess says..like watching paint dry.

2016 P1 SuperStock race in Jacksonville, FL

Veronica Olderin a friend of mine from Sweden was invited to drive one of the P1 boats. Here she is with her British co/racer
    Daisy Duke Coleman.
The third picture is Carina and her last P1 SuperStock race. More fun in the Tavares meeting according to her.

I only ever raced for fun Lassie------only ever made friends in boat racing, never made any money, but lived a wonderful life.
I don't see eye to eye with everybody about all things------I've fallen foul of the hierarchy at Mercury on numerous occasions due to "mitigating circumstances"
I did not like the way OMC recruited inexperienced drivers to race in the V8 series, many who were maimed for life, quite a few were fatally injured-------what really pissed me off was the fact nobody said anything.
Yes, boat racing is dangerous, but the V8 took the sport to a new low. It damn near killed powerboat racing for all time--------
OMC called it Formula 1, which was a farce--------it didn't have a formula, it went from two and a bit litres to over four litres in months----not years. It never was Formula one------it was only ever OZ.
LASSIE is Jonrude, through and through, will never see the dark side of the firm.
i can never forgive them for the way they treated my son Mark after signing him up for the series then leaving him to fend for himself in an Italian hospital where they wanted to remove his leg.
Fortunately Parkinson, Fred Hauenstien and Mercury flew him back home.
No Lassie, im not a lifelong lover of OMC -----I think I have good reason!

I strongly disagree with you Jackie.
OMC never forced anyone to race. Everyone racing for OMC did so on there own will.
It takes more skills to drive/race a F3 boat fast than an F1-V8 boat.
Lets take the drivers line up for the Stockholm F1-V8 race 1983.

    1. Velden..I think he was qualified to drive
    2. Mostert. He raced the OZ class many years before driving a V8.
    3. McConnell....I think he was qualified to drive
    4. Roberto was not OMCs pick..One of Renatos friends and he raced many years in Italy.
6 Rick Frost..a very good driver and raced the OZ class with a V6 1981.
    7. Signoretti was also a Renato customer. I have seen him race many times.
    8. Strom..I raced the ON and OZ class first time 1978 and finished 4 in the Paris 6 Hours driving one of the Saffa OZ class boats..
    9. Jenkins..I think he was qualified to drive
    10. Percival..I think he was qualified to drive
    11. Bob Spalding..I think he was qualified to drive
    12. Salabert..I think he was qualified to drive..raced the OZ class with a V6 many years.
    14. Mora..I think he was very qualified to drive, raced OE and ON before F1-V8
    15. Nimmo..I think he was qualified to drive, raced OE and ON before F1-V8
    16. Bullen..I think he was qualified to drive, raced OE and OZ V6 before F1-V8
    17. Valdano...I think he was qualified to drive, raced OE and ON before F1-V8
18, Molinari..I think he was qualified to drive.
    19. Vidoli..I think he was qualified to drive, raced OE and ON before F1-V8.
    20. Wilson..I think he was qualified to drive, raced OE and ON before F1-V8
    21. Designe..not sure if he ever raced F1-V8 Dont remember him.

1983 UIM made it clear after a few years of argue about Formula classes.

    OE was named F3
    ON was named F2
    OZ was named F1
That was the UIM rule not an OMC rule.

Lassie, you do not want to get into a pissing contest with me on this one, believe me.!
you are looking through rose coloured specs at this ----
Take a look at that line up again my friend-------Cees was hurt so bad in his accident he never raced again.
Jimbo, hurt real bad , Tom, Bob and Francois deceased.
Mora was a hydro pilot----Andy Bullen was a club racer with a pushy dad in Alf.
im tired and I want to go to bed. So for tonight, I'm done.
If the V8 was so damned much easier to drive than an OE, why the hell were you always at the back instead of out front like you were in the OE ?
You were right of course, OMC didn't "Force" anyone to drive------just offered sums of cash never before heard of in powerboat history .

Lassie, you should do some research into the birth of the F1/2/3/4/. It was Charlie Shepherd at Bristol who thought up the idea, to make it easy for the public to understand. It was very successful, so much so, that OMC hijacked the iron curtain countries bloc vote AND the UIM. To steal the title. FONDA, had run the F1 for two years. But then you knew all this Lassie didn't you ?

Cees van der Velden won three F1-V8 races 1989.
The last one in Texas and he retired after a very success full year.
This picture is from Beaumont, Texas 1989 and Cees is racing a very advanced boat.
You could change the pontoons for rough or smooth condition.
A Johnson V8 3.0 liter looper with fuel injection. 6 inch mid section and hydraulic power-steering. (No steering cables)

The 1983 Pittsburgh GP was one of the best US F1-V8 races for me.

So many good memories from Three Rivers Regatta.
First over 300,000 spectators makes it more fun to race.
I was pretty close to get Pole Position but a propeller blade stopped that.
The other major set back was the powerful V8 engine refuse to start in one of the three heat races.
Here is some pictures and text from the race.

I still have some contact with my old F1-V8 friends. And Bullen visited Florida two years ago.
Andy was a pretty tough driver and raced the F1-V8 series for many years. Both in Europe and the USA.

If you want to make a lot of money driving pretty fast boats... racing is not the answer.
You can make $500,000.00 going fishing in South Carolina over a weekend..
Check out my short video from the FLW tournament at Lake Murray.

Over the years I raced Schulze, Molinari, Velden, Burgess, Sjoberg and Clerici tunnel boats. Molinari was probably the best built boat, Burgess and Clerici gave me many victories,
but for some reason Cees van der Velden was the most interesting person.. Maybe Cees was an underdog to Molinari and Seebold..I just love the man and his passion for tunnel boat racing.

Pretty cool picture of Cees van der Velden. My guess is from 1979 or -80. A Johnson V6 RS 3 liter looper fuel injection.
