Getting interested in finding another 21' Sunsport I/O. I believe the basic model was made from '87 - '92. An OB would be fine as well. I always wanted to take an I/O hull and put a Stainless Marine bracket on it with a 3 liter. Big interior, nice gel coat, small pad, good all around family boat.
if anyone knows where a 21' is, let me know. Thanks. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. just nosed around this thread... of the less than 20' boats I gotta say the 184ss is the coolest... Love the smaller ones too but it seems odd how the windshield side rail drops so abruptly .. idk.. all beautiful boats!

Fwiw, if'n everything goes as planned mine'll be for sale soon. Rigged with a stock 115 and single cable steering. Run 55 with a 90, 65 or so with a 140. So I'm guessin a 115'll push it round 60?
Needs a lil lipstick but it's a purty cool boat.'71 Glastron V153 - Composite rebuild - Unceremoniously wrecked

I got at the beginning of the summer this 1984 16SS all original. with matching build papers evinrude 140 V4 on the back. does not have the original trailer tho. Bot was in a barn under cover for 20 years. pulled it out in Pennsylvania, had the whole motor rebuilt. new 15 gallon stainless steal gas tank installed behind the rear seat. Rebuilt the back Seat. Redid all the wiring, Boat gps speed was 64.7 with just me in it. next addition will be to re-power it with a new evinrude etec-g2 225HP Looking forward tot he project over the winter.

Very nice combo you have there.
If you put a 200-225hp Evinrude G2 on there, beware that it will be at least 537 lbs... Or about double the weight of your current motor. That will change the way it sits in the water and takes on water over the transom a LOT. The equivalent horsepower G1 Evinrude is 418 lbs, for reference.

the current motor weight around 420lbs a new etec or etec g2 would only be 50-100 lbs more then whats on their now. I've been trying to find a newer etec 150 -200 hp but i cant find any would it be better to put a etec vs a etec g2?

weight wise, yes. the regular etecs seem to be way lighter. and classic boats like yours (all my boats are classics too, including one similar to yours, but not as nice as yours), were not designed in the era of 400-550lb outboards.
I'm guessing that it might be getting harder to find G1 etecs because evinrude will be phasing them out, and the new g2's are sooo heavy, people want to get the light motors while they can... but that would be a guess.

i want to find a 150 ho etec If possible but first will be getting a custom trailer made for the boat. i found a company in NY that will custom make a nice 6 bunk trailer with a lower bow stop trailer brakes, led lights, back up lights, powder coated red with the silver flake spare tire holder, and removable guides. for around 3,000 that will be first then the repower will come.
