What shaft length is everyone running? Im assuming 20"? My boat came with a 25" which I'm told is too big despite having the jackplate all the way up. Looking to see about swapping out for a 20" midsection and shaft... thoughts or suggestions?

All the early years of 22' production, were delivered new with 20'' shaft engines, no matter the horsepower or brand. This included the center-console 22's, first tooled & produced in Pompano, and the bass boat w/Evinrude 3.6 GT V-8 one-off.

Bolt a 20'' engine directly to the transom...and go. Thats how they all left the factory. No mess, no fuss.

I worked at a Velocity dealer. We had a white 22 footer with red an black stripes sporting a johnson 225 on the trans, and omc ss prop. Early 90's? It might have touched 70. I liked it a lot....Plenty of bow lift.
83 V-King, 96 Mariner, ff block 2.5 w/a 28p chopper
Ain't it great to have papa TRUMP back at the helm?

Well, as has been the case with our lives lately my work on the 87 Velocity was put on hold. The guy who previously owned the boat never ran it at full throttle for more than 20 seconds I guess. The 94 200 Merc is very strong and in great shape but the mounts were weak and the set up wrong. We had a harrowing quick trip above 70 mph with a 23 chopper at around 7000 rpm I think but I am replacing instruments as well. A new 300 is not in the picture with two sons in college. I just installed a big foot nose cone because water pressure was not there at trim and replaced the motor mounts. Next will be some head work and Boyeson reeds with a little reed cage work as well and a exhaust tuner and then jet adjustments. I actually am pretty impressed with how well it handles and runs with what it has. Ahh for an extra 42.000 for one of the new billet 4 litre 650s....sigh! Hopefully we can make the Suwannee River BBQ this year.

Anyone ever make a race hatch for this hull? I’m interested in having one for when I want to remove the bench because I have no passengers. Which is like 90% of the time I take it out.
Also Update: changed the jackplate to the bobs machine HD 10” (got a great deal I couldn’t pass up) and also got a great deal on a sport master LU. In a 2’ chop still messing with height and trim a got 71.3 mph. She definitely has more to go though and gotta dial in the best prop. Currently running a 28p Signature.Last edited by HighVelocity22; 03-23-2018 at 05:24 PM.

Was told it is a s-glass lay up not exactly sure what that is. There was a Velocity dealer up here in Washington state from 2002- 2009 ish he sold a few 22 with outboards. This one was bought from a guy in Washington and shipped up from Georgia in 2003 said it ran low 90's with a 300X. When all interior was put back in and cuddy runs low 80's 300XS . Traded hands in Washington a few times been garage kept and well taken care of. Coming from a 26 Eliminator Daytona thought i was going to a 28 or 32 skater next but rode in my buddies 22 velocity loved the ride and is easier for me to use and lunch, then dealing with a big cat
