It's prolly the molybdenum that settled out. That **** ain't for sitting around and could probably be used in a top fuel motor

Looking at this it might be best for me to buy oil in small quantity's if not going to use much, that would make sense yeah ?
but how do we know how long these bottles /jugs have been sitting around for
not seen a use by date or manufactured date on 2 stroke oil ? but to be honest never looked for it.
might be a good idea to keep it by the garage door, so every time I go in there I have to move it and give it a
shake up at same time to stop anything settling in the bottom of the container.
or put a bracket on the garage door to hold the container so it actually rotates when I open the up and over door, this would
probably work ok .
( I now have a picture in my head of me walking into it and it and it bursts open on my head

I'm thinking shaking the bottle doesn't really put the sh*t back in the blend, back in suspension yes, but will still be little jelly fish that stick in the screens. Being a tight ass, I strained it thru paint strainers, it seemed to clean up but left the strainers plugged with a goo that solvents wouldn't touch, I finally came to my senses and threw it away.

I got curious about crap in the oil. I have several full 2.5 gal jugs of prem plus that I refill at my local dealer. I have some paint strainers, really fine, good ones with plastic screens. Poured some out of one jug into 2 oil inj tanks thru the filter. Poured some from one nearly empty one into another. Looked at the bottom, nothing. Maybe 3 gals or more going thru the strainer. The thing was very clean. I guess getting my oil from a 55 gal barrel that is rotated fairly often is getting me clean oil. Never bought the 1 gal jugs...So they might be the problem, sitting around and getting old. Maybe a diff refiner/dist. for the oil in the jugs vs the 55's?

You might think that the gel is the additive to make it a synthetic or syn blend that's separating? Buy straining out and using it could fry a motor that's a gig chance to take I would not use it if I knew it was clumpy and filter out the chit. omc xd or yama lube never had or heard of this problem ever. jmo

yeah separation and suspension are very different, once its out of the oil maybe best to just forget about it and look for good fresh stuff.
I am gladthis has come up as I am about to go get some new 2 stroke oil, seeing this has put me off the merc premium a bit, its bad enough having
fuel that goes off within a month or so, now finding out more about dodgy oil too.
Mmmm maybe my next oil will be yamalube or xd then.
realy dont fancy the idea of something that can go clumpy being anywhere near the motor.
Only takes a little bit of crap and god only knows what can go wrong, plus is this clumpy crap taking with it the lubricating part of the oil ?
Will have to look around and see what extravagant price this stuff is going to be.. bound to be even more expensive than the merc oil..

I didn't realize that Prem Plus had PTFE in it....maybe that is why my "88" 2.4 on my Grady allways showed a lot of carbon at the exhaust. If I am correct PTFE does NOT burn well. Am I correct making this asumption?

The Merc perf blend is full of all kinds of ****. A barrel agitator is needed if it sits for a period of time. Same with most of the fabled amsoil crap.

any idea when mercury/quicksulver stopped using the almost clear 1 gallon oil containers , its round not like todays cans.
I ask because I found a can of that in the back of the garage today, its about half full and when I poured it into a white container so I could see
what its like it looks perfect !! no bits in it and no clumps, looks brand new , but I dont even remember when I got that ?
just curious now as to how old that must be, its definitely before 2004 I know that .
( will just use that in an old seagull motor at 20 to 1 due to them running on anything from 2 stroke to 30 weight engine oil in the mix)

Slick 50 -had a class action law suit.the crap turned to brown Jello and clogged the returns in the lifter valley on a lot of car engines.Personally,I wouldn`t even consider any oil that I suspected containing PTFE

Hey Gary
I've been using Royal Purple, gear lube for the lower and two stroke mix in the motor. They also have a low temp for winter. Good stuff
