Funny that the same building, all these years, since North American Boats went out of business in 1981, has always had fiberglass businesses in it. North American Boat Corporation was in business from 1963 until 1981. The owners have all passed away. They built the S-18 Runabout, S-19 Open Fish, S-22 Offshore, SD-24 Tunnel Hull, and S-26. Every boat was launched at the Port Everglades boat ramp & sea-trialed. Well built boats in there day.

Were those Chrysler racing lower units very strong? I don't recall the Chrysler guys fretting much about how much time they had on their units like the Mercury drivers did.

Imagine today if Bbd Etec or Merc put out something outrageous like stacks. Of coarse it wouldn't happen and cool factor, not so much. Too freaking loud anyway for the gains.

Very strong. The gears are fat reduced diameter toothed and do not use the excessive wearing 1:1 ratio. Single pinion left plenty of room for good heavy bearings
