Vector engine height?
I put the newly restored Vector in the water for the second time today, the first time I was just seeing if it would float and start. I have the tip of the nose cone about 3/4" to 1" below the pad. By the rooster tail it seems to be too high but I know most people run them higher.Water pressure was between 5 and 8 psi most of the time. I wasn't able to run it hard for long as it got pretty squirrelly feeling, chine walk was starting and felt a good bit of torque. The boat is running pretty flat and I wasn't running much positive trim . Fo I need to raise or lower the motor to make it handle better. I only got it up to 65 and it was a handful !

Couple of things
Experience? The vector is a fun but "drivers" boat.....takes practice...aint just gonna go straight. But once u get it their a blast
Do u have all the steering tight? No play?...solid mounts?
What is your cooling setup (water)....factory or something else?
If factory id try and get some more psi before anything
A coned case runs good around even with pad....some like it higher all depends on driving style and prop81' HYDROSTREAM VECTOR / slightly Modified 200

5 to 8 psi seems a little low, at least 10+ would be better. Give more info on your setup and the gurus will reply. Like what prop, single cable or dual steering, what motor, ect. Sorry, I didnt see your older post with all the info.

It's a side steer with new Seastar Pro hydraulic steering, 3" setback with a 2.5 EFI 150. I'm running a small diameter lower with a Bob's nose cone with low water pickup and a 27p SRX prop. the lower has the exhaust cut out , it has a rectangle hole about 1 1/2" x2 1/2" right where it meets the mid . It sounds good but it's a little loud. I also have the original bigger diameter lower that I thought about trying with a through hub prop to see if it handled any better.

It also has a flat pad with no hook, previous owner said it was blueprinted . It is flat and all edges are nice and sharp

The guy I got the lower from was running it on his Allison at over 100mph. Is it ok to run the opened up exhaust? It seems to be making a pretty big rooster tail without running a lot of trim, could that be a sign of the engine being too high? I only got it up to around 65 today and I could only stay on the throttle for a few seconds before it felt like it was going to get away from me. I had my wife video me and let looks like I need to run more trim to get boat out of the water but when I do it only seems to make a bigger rooster tail

How are you measuring prop height.
Level boat (pad).... level prop shaft with trim..... level 6ft level under both and measure down to it.... subtract difference
While boat is on trailer..... lift back of boat with car jack on pad... climb in and get someone to add weight where needed to balance boat
Even with pad... after that.... practice practice practice81' HYDROSTREAM VECTOR / slightly Modified 200

I promise I wasn't looking back, I was watching the video my wife took. My butt was pinching the seat too hard to turn around. I was surprised at how much the boat rolls if I let off the throttle too quick , I probably just need more seat time. My old Varmint was nothing like this Vector, it only had an old inline 6 cyl though. I wasn't measuring like that, I was just looking at the tip of the nose one in relation to the bottom of the pad with the trim down while sitting on the trailer without making sure the pad and motor were level

With a flat pad and no hook keep the trim level to start with. Maybe even trim down as you go faster. The Vector has plenty of bow lift w/o any pos trim.

What do you think about the water pressure? Sometimes it will go up higher but it wasn't steady. The guy I got the lower from just put a new impeller in it a couple weeks ago. I put a new water pump kit and new thermostats in it the other day just to make sure . Should I remove the thermostats?

I'll try that, it has a pretty weak stream at idle and low rpm.

Need a temp gauge too..Pressure is good, but you need to see a overheat problem before it gets out of controll...
