When I started in the 1970's, we were so tough that when you crashed and died we just left you. Let the locals recover the bodies in the fall when they drained the lake. Figured the dead and injured didn't have the right stuff anyway, so we just got new buddies.

This is why no new boating laws and regulations have been written since then, and why so many communities welcome us and encourage us to maim and kill ourselves. They just can't get enough of the mayhem

You bring up good points man, I get where your comin from. what I don't get however is .. I started running high speed in the 80's and that group plus most other racers were out bein crazy, sure sh*t went wrong but nobody sat around bitchin about it or trying to solve safety issues for others. Every one of us knew what we were messing with at those speeds.
I hear loud and clear that none here want to see their friends hurt or dead....but all this rule making and regulating won't change the fact that it's a dangerous sport.

High speeds in the 80s and high speeds today are two different worlds. We have a LOT more fast boats (90 + mph) and a LOT more boats that create larger wakes running on the same waterways. Times have changed and you need to as well...If you stop and think about it, the good ole' days weren't that great compared to the equipment at our fingertips today. (1980 corvette less then 200 h.p., baddest black max 200 hp-today corvette over three times that, today highest hp outboard is over three times that as well).

Brad was very clear. if he invites everyone to a boating event. anyone that attends must wear a life vest or you will be told. ( not asked ) to load your boat back on the trailer.

pretty simple to understand. hell i have been called a dumb ass for years. and even i understand his rule.

the only part that i have ever questioned concerning his rule is how he attained the right to enforce his rule on public waterways. but after all this i am conceding. if i show up i will wear my bright orange coast guard approved wall-mart vest.

Love the pic!! I have to go looking for some of mine. At 7 I was put in the seat...barely reaching the pedal of course, of a 12' mod v w/a 50 johnson of course the group kept a close eye, but learned to hold it on the pad around 70mph at that age.
Of course like all others I consider those the glory days. I've seen people flip, sink, etc.too, but we helped out and kept running.
As far as threats...It was not my intent to threaten, simple voice displeasure over so much commotion. Id enjoy a beer and boating conversation with anyone here

Thats cool that you got to experience that at that age. If you look close at my pic I had to put a throw cushion behind my back to reach the steering wheel
