TV Antenna questions???
Have an old boat we're using for a cottage and trying to figure out how to run 3 TVs from same antenna.
Same channel to all 3 is OK if no other option.
Is this possible??
If not, what are my options?
No cable available and sometimes move boat so can't be tied to a land based antenna etc.
Thx guys.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

This is what you need to do what you want to do.
Hook this to the antenna.

Then run coaxial cable from the antenna to the splitter. Then you run coaxial cable from the splitter to each TV.

Yep, that simple and no problem Gary. I'm glad to help.
According to the article in the second link listed below you should use this splitter to split to 3 TV's.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...miniformusi-20
If you have a signal strength problem you can install a per-amp to boost the signal. From what I have read this is a good one. Don't buy a booster unless you need one because of reception strength problems.

Here is some info on splitting the antenna signal.

What kind of antennae are you using? An ommni directional type would be good since the boat is moving around vs a directional type that would need to be adjusted.

The flying saucer Winegard antenna is best. with the pre-amp, after all the t.v.'s are set up, adjust it slowly to full power and look for ghosts or herring, then back off till it's perfectly clear. Yes, you can have too much boost

Those wineguards are great. But don't they need 115v for the pre-amp? It's real low draw, so a small inverter would power it easily...

The antenna is the next part of the puzzle.
Been using this one and works pretty good but some days only picks up a few channels and or, drops them.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

Great info guys.
I will order what you've suggested.
Bought an older boat that had been used as a cottage the last several yrs of its life and am slowly gaining on its conversion back to being cabin cruiser again.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Too bad the boat moves. I have a place in Washington State. Direct TV doesn't do business in Canada. The Canadian sat services suck, mostly Canadian channels. Discovered I can use my Direct TV here in Canada. So that would be my solution is buy Direct TV for main house and get an extra receiver coded for main house. Use it at the cottage. An extra dish can be bought cheap on most classifieds sites. The drawback is you need a receiver on each TV. You'd need to adjust the dish when you move locations. But worth it for full TV for the price of having it at one home. Caveat would be readjusting the dish when you move. Its a pain too adjust.

Hey Gary - If you haven't found them yet, https://www.antennaweb.org and https://www.tvfool.com will give a good estimate of what stations are in range and how much antenna you will need. A directional antenna on top a mast of an old boat would be pure hillbilly!
