    honest opinion !

honest opinion...... I've always liked Mariner but there hard to find ... with an all white boat and white and grey interior a Mariner would look really nice on the back...Im thinking about painting my black mid and cowl Gray and getting a mariner decal set...... In the boating community is it frowned on to badge you're power wrong on purpose or does nobody really give a crap....lol

    Nobody gives a crap.

(Unless you were paint an OMC like a Mercury, which would be the equivalent of bronze paint on a turd... )

I'm with Marcus. Some colors work better together. Although I would consider getting a Mariner cowl set so you don't have to worry about scratches. There are a couple good priced ones for sale . I once painted a clam shell Mariner 150 black for the same reason. Mike.

All the high end boat companies paint the engines to match the boat as do all the super yachts owners. Merc now sells their bigger engines with different color schemes as well. I see no problem with painting an engine any color you want. You can get custom decals made as well.

Plus everybody and his brother have black motors, nice to see something a different color every so often.

You could always go with the Sea Ray paint scheme:

DO NOT paint the cowl if its one of the Merc Racing cowls. It will ruin a prime feature that allows you to easily buff scratches and reduces the worth
Sure, change the color, but buy a set of Mariner cowls and sell the merc cowls. If they are production motor cowls ...paint them!

Thought the Mariner cowls were painted from the factory?
