300x stroker
I`m in the process of getting the parts together to build a 3.2L stroker using a
300x block and electronics.New Pro marine pistons all .030 and a 3.2 300xs crank.Has anyone on here built similiar engine?I read a couple of old posts, but wondering how you like this setup and any problems you`ve had.

the 300X block has to be modified to fit the XS crank.

Are you sure?I talked with eric simon a couple of months ago and he said the crank will clear using a 300x block, but the 300promax block will need to be modified.Have you actually built one of these?

Did you ever build this motor?

I have a couple of them. Todd D. and Eric worked together on the curve and I have put a lot of fuel through it at this point with no problems. Todd is in the process of putting another one together for my LCB, he will know the answer to any questions that you have.

just give me your x block, you gunna destroy it anyway. lol
#5 will self-destruct after a few hrs. its the port timing that's the problem. its just a touch too high.
#5 leans out
the word I have is use a 300xs block assembly and use x stuff on it..electronics ect.Last edited by xskeetshooter; 04-15-2017 at 05:51 AM.

I have put 600 gallons of fuel through the one on my STV in last 7 months and its an X block. The box has a custom curve put in it from Eric Simon. I am not sure what Xskeetshooter is talking about. I have another one with the XS block, X internals, and all X electronics that is going together very soon for another boat so I will be able to compare the two of them.

How to porting compare on the xs compare to the x? We know the xs crank of far better besides the longer stroke. I would think there's new tech in the new blocks.

04-16-2017, 09:51 AM #10I agree that when #5 or #6 burn up , it looks like they were not fed more than a thimble full of fuel their whole life ... what makes you point to the porting ?#5 will self-destruct after a few hrs. its the port timing that's the problem. its just a touch too high.
#5 leans out.
Do you blame the cold , hot or both sides together ?
If you were Mercury , What would you do if you increased the stroke but used the same piston and rod assembly from a 3.0L ?How to porting compare on the xs compare to the x?
They took the time to balance it , in what other area's did they improve the crank ?We know the xs crank of far better besides the longer stroke.
There's an oil hole in the sleeve below the ports .I would think there's new tech in the new blocks.
Bottom 2/3 rds of the ex port has a narrower cross section.

The X cranks got a real bad rap with all of the 05's that broke up near the top (I have two of the victims personally). The XS is a balanced unit so that along with the fact of a fairly low failure rate makes them better. The rods are still the weak link but there are a couple mad scientist in South Florida working on remedies.

Cunninham Rods already makes a great billet rod....unfortunately they've only sold a total of 14 since about 2008 (when Galen Burden had them design some for my race motor). That's why they're now $500 per rod and that is without silver plating which runs about another $75-100 per rod if you can find someone to do it. If enough people got together to place a decent size order, I'd think they could be had for much less but there is still the silver plate issue to deal with.
For a race motor they make sense due to the high investment of having a block built and the extreme rpms & compression but imo these rods are overkill for a low rpm / low compression lake motor.Last edited by StratosVT; 04-17-2017 at 07:49 PM.

I picked up 5 mph, acceleration and load carrying capability. I could probably pick up a few more mph's with some taller props, but mid 120"s is fast enough for me in a 32' boat.
