SSt120 EFI
I've been wondering if it is possible to do an EFI conversion to a sst120 motor ? has anyone on here done this ? if so what is needed to make it work can you use the electrics off a 2.5 EFI motor and front half ?

I think you need a 2.4 front half
Then you can put on a 2.5 horn or a 2.4 horn.If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

I have a couple F1 2.0 litres and the front half is same as 260. Block based on 2.5 litre. Horn, injectors, big bearing crank all same as 2.5. Going to be selling them either whole or might part them out

My memory is foggy on this but what SST 120 motor, did they not run 2.0 first the 2.4 and finally 2.5 200's?
SST 140 was Bridgeport and later 245 carb right??!!??
and which efi?? But yes I think it's easily done with the right parts combo. I have thought about Doing a laser efi on a 2.0 and a 2.4 before I have an extra spare laser set up, been thinking about converting my dads modded 2.0 on his bass boat or an old 2.4 200 to hang on it for him

Are the f1 2.0's small bearing or big bearing? I can't remeber, i still have a few parts from one somewhere, I have the flywheel stator and trigger on another motor right now.
If it's small bearing I might want the front half and even possible the whole front assembly forward , when you get ready and decide what you want to do with them holler at me

sst140 was a carb 2.4 Bridgeport
2.4 f1 same motor on horn efi
then came new block design to
sst120 was 2.5 block with 2.0 production cast sleeves in it
2.0 f1 was 2.5 block with 2.0 nic behind the liner ported sleeves with Bridgeport exhaust
with horn efi,,,completely different motor than sst120

Thanks for all the input guys just one of those things that I've thought about doing for a while because i have a few 120 motors laying around. Another question i have is how high can you raise the compression on the 2.0 litre engines how much can you shave off the heads ? There is an open 2.0 litre class i can run in so i dont need to stick to sst120 rules.

On my 2.4 the heads are 26cc. I had to buy 1/4" shorter head bolts.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

there are plenty of guys that know the merc history better
I just liked to race them since 1981,,,,
merc was converting 89-91 from the 2.4 block to the 2.5 block
so the 2.0 Bridgeport f1 motor was made from the new platform 2.5 block design
and was released before the 1st 2.5 production motor hit market in 90/91
lot of mismatched 2.4/2.5 stuff in them yrs
2.4 fat blocks to 2.5 bottom guided having 2.4 internals
wish gaylen was still around ,,,most awesome thing he did was make us a few 2.5 bridgeports
by sleeving the 2.0 f1 motor then mechanical injection on top of that,,,
really mis his stuff he made us back then
