My parents go every year for about 10 days. They have taken my two daughters about 5 times. My first packpacking trip was there when I was five years old. I still remember the seaplane ride to get there. Very cool place. My parents are packrafting this year for ten days and they just turned 77 last week.

Big lake. I drove around Lake Michigan one day... but only been about 3/4 of the way around Superior in several different trips (so far).

2007 was last time I was out there, my 280 puked - but luckily we were in the Duluth harbor at the time and not out in the big lake. Coast Guard came and towed us to the landing.

Lake Superior in October and February 2014 lake almost froze over. Water is clear and cold even in July.
Center picture is cave on Anderson Island (Apostle Islands)and Ice caves on south shore Wisconsin.

Man had to use a Grads pic? lol. When it lays down it's just as clear in many places. I've been out a Stannard Rock on a very rare dead calm sunny day Lake Trout fishing and we could see the dodgers/spoons and fish way way down there.

Days before full ice coverage 2015, notice the wind drive offshore ice along the north shore. It did fill in when the wind stopped. In 2014 the south shore at Marquette had ice until the end of the first week of JUNE !

Lake Sup looks awesome also,but you have to admit this shot of Grads in 80-100' water depth with shadow speaks volumes!When boating the water clarity is mezmerizing as fresh water goes!!

I always figured it was named for its position at the top of the great lakes.
Been all around it and as far north as Lake Nipigon.
