Question for the guys that do porting?
Just wondering if when people do a drag cut on a merc 2.5 block if they angle the top of the transfer ports or make them straight. Thanks for the help!

straight from side to side and flat on top with angle cut on sides towards boosters. I guess I'll be the sucker to start this one lol

Thanks for the info! I have seen some straight and some angled. I got a block for a great price and raising the port timing a little bit for some more top end.

In my opinion the angled roofs from side to side work a little better on heavier boats. So kinda depends on boat. But all drag motas I've seen were straight. Maybe others will chime in also.

This will be for drag racing only 800 feet on an ally xr01 in the 1400 pound class. Figured I would give it it a try.

Here is the port layout for the 300 drag. Hope this helps. The angle helps direct the fuel away from the exhaust.

you certainly are a wealth of information Wrechin2!!! Do you have any maps like that for a 2.5 280 or a 2 litre champ block?

is there any chance I could get a clearer copy of the picture above? I cant quite make out the numbers. I am working on a cad file to have some sleeves cut and although this is not the map I want to use it would help me greatly in understanding what I need as far as angles etc.
