i think it was 105ish with the 300x,yes,he's been busy with winterization and the new basscat boat dealership, building a new showroom and getting ready to take delivery of new boats. after he sold the skater, talon and the hydrostreams,he spent more time fishing and building business this summer,he comes on here now and then, best to catch him on FB,aim marine inc.

Matt the guy you got it from, bought it rigged for Merc.,but put a stage 1 225 yamaha hpdi on it. I still don't know why he sold it,,haven't seen him in awhile. He didn't own it long. that 250xs was a beast,it ended up on the talon22,then Max bought the talon with that motor. Dave has a fresh ruck 260 motor still sitting there, that may have been destined for it at one time too,but I bought his offshore mid, alien cowl and sporty. and hi po parts, and he just wanted out of it for awhile,,to concentrate on business.

So did you buy that boat from Matt in kinburn ont. ? One other thing i remember dave also had a 225x for it,and originally rigged the boat with brand new mercury smartcraft harness, wired thru a lowrance hds 2,for guages. It all went with the hull, i tried to get that from him when he rigged it yamaha,i bought an ae-21 from the same guy and stashed it. The 200efi dave had on it was running on the smartcraft setup. Was it still in the hull ?

Sorry for the delay. Yes it was Matt I bought it from. I am toying with the idea of putting a 300 promax on it. What should I expect for top speed with one? Prop and lower unit selection?
    thanks guys.

Should be right at 100 with a Sportmaster and 32-34" prop.
Lightening et or performance drag 4 would be my choice.

I'm running a ET now and will be getting a drag 4.

Corne Duff in Sweden has a 300xs and has a drag 4 on order.

Ok thanks. The sport master with 1.62 gears would probably be best I am assuming?
Also I was concerned about the weight of the 300 (460) pounds. Is that ok on the transom?

That's a tough one to answer.
it all depends on your transom.

Corne, Alby, Aaron, and myself have the deleted splashwell. This adds a lot of strength.
Keep a CLOSE eye on the inside corners of the Splashwell.
If you have a motor Hanging on there now, you can step on cavitation plate and look for transom movement.

My Transon has been rebuilt. It is solid.
What would be the difference in top speed between a cleaver vs an ET vs a chopper?
i liked cleaver the best on my v hull but this is a bit different.

12 mph. How's that for an answer? Haa haa

Chopper good to about 65-70 mph
ET good all around to 90's.
    Cleaver good 90's. - 100+

    Thats it in a nutshell.

Ok thanks. I guess ill be on the hunt for another cleaver.
At that speed I'm assuming I have to use a sport master lower unit because of the gears in it?

Your Cleaver will be your best top end prop but that's all it's good for.
The ET or a nice over hub 4- blade is everyone's daily runner prop.
You can cone a stock lower unit and run it. Just not as durable.

That hull /transom is completely rebuilt,,by Tim at ottawa acrylics, it had a custom built 250xs dyno'd at 330hp on it,but the guy you bought it from just bought the hull, and put a yamaha on it, it had brand new merc smartcraft wiring and livorsi guages when it left here, that motor went onto daves 22 talon, he already had a 24 skater and the talon here when he sold the virage without ever running it again after the resto.he ran it a few times with a 300x before the resto.a 225x and a 200efi motorola motor turned to 7200 by simon

The last i saw that boat he was just hangin the yamaha in his shop, i bought and pulled an ae 21 out of his yard, he had a young family and wanted rid of the ae21 cause the floors were rotten and foam soaked,he took that yamaha off the ae and kept it for the virage, he must not have put many hours on it,cause i saw it advertised pretty soon after
