I bought a mint 1992 superboat in 1994 for 12000.00, sold it when i got married to pave the driveway and put countertops in (i know f-in stupid), sold it in 1999 for 13000.00, probably worth the same or more today if it was still clean.

Probably 30 years from now 30k may seem cheap, time will tell.
The one thing for sure, many years later it is still a great looking and running hull!

cost of material, cost of labor..... custom cost. I build custom furniture for a living I can't buy material for what some cheap crap sells for !!!!

the cost of outboards is crazy I remember buying a new 2.4 200 in 1989 for $7400 from tony at ocean outboard that included a 5 year warranty

tony you are correct... I have a sales receipt from a 77 challenger it was like 9k that was big money back then

I would be surprised if costs have really doubled since 2003.

Resin follows petrochemicals prices which have come way down since their peak along with crude oil and natural gas.

Other materials have come down as well since their peak.

Labor cost increases have only recently started to move.

Maybe someone that actually deals and is currently buying these products which have also dealt with them years back and has first hand experience could speak up. My guess they will say, every time I get a new order invoice the prices go up.
Not sure what has been going down here?.....
Not to mention overhead expenses rent, mortgage, taxes, utilities, insurances (many) just to mention a few things.
Heck even illegals workers want big $ now and in cash.

If you have first hand info on other boat builders prices post up #'s even 10, 15years back to now.....Not places like China.....

    Randy, you did well!.....
But keep in mind that is a splash/copy just like mine and many say they do not have the same build quality......not sure I fully agree but non the less it is a splash/copy and will always keep the splash/copy label which brings the price down, fact of life.
Hard to believe how many times this Linder design has been copied/splashed, that tell you something.....

Bobby, exactly and when you tell that to your customer or client they think it is impossible.
Only a hand full will understand and are willing to pay for a custom and quality product.
It seems like we now live in a disposable product world.

    I checked some statistics:

US manufacturing employment costs are up by about 35% since 2003, i.e. nowhere near 100%

Chemicals are up around 60% and plastics and rubbers are up around 40%

I just paid 500 dollars for a fine hand-made English wooden toilet seat.

    interesting discussion
granted this is not my business so I am estimating on amount of materials need to produce a 21 ft boat using quality stuff

resins including gel and harder 55 gal ? $ 2k
    balsa coring 320 sq ft $ 2 k
cloth, wide rolls and tapes 100 yard $ 750
    marine ply 128 sq ft $ 1k
    all stainless $ 2.5 k
    consumables $ 1k
    misc $ 750

so lets say 10k just in materials
anyone want to estimate time in labor to build it again not sure how relative but a 40k kitchen takes me aprox 400 man hours to produce and install

also did not allow for bulk material discount and carry over materials from past jobs

rally sports were being manufactured by a much larger company with a lot of purchasing power and labor in place, unlike a small boutique builder like progression or super boat

I was at the Rallysport manufacturer when they built my boat. They built two Rallysports that year, 5 Mirages, and about six other boats

I though rally sport was H & H and built much larger cabin cruiser types ?
