Like the "Tool Man" would say..MORE POWER! Damn I got a 135 TOP on a 15 footer Flatty. I'd stuff a 75 on the back that boat..and a damn nice "tin" too!

You can cut up to 60 thou. off the head(start at 45 thou.) but you will need to mix fuel up to 98 oct. if you get to 160 lbs of compression. Set up is the most important (motor as high as possible) and if you get her to spin over 6k rpm you need to use GOOD oil at least at 32:1(25:1 over 6.5k) Make sure throttle linkage is tight as carb and timing will not be at full setting if they are worn.I have modded a couple and hope this helps. Gary
Thanks for the info Gary. Can you suggest how much could be milled off of the head and still run well with 93 oct.? Where do folks get 98 oct?

Any sources for cupped props for this motor? I'm assuming you are talking a stainless or brass prop.

I've got a new in the box Hi-Jacker jack plate and am considering using it but is seems a bit heavy considering the size of the boat.

I'm thinking I should start a thread on my ship instead of hijacking this small boat thread.

    Thanks for all feedback.

You would be fine @ 40k off head and 5k off block to get a good seal....be sure to use thin(original style) head gasket with 93 oct fuel.

Send to a prop shop and have them cup one for you.

Your prop and height of motor will give you the most speed improvement. Gary

Heres my 1970 14' GW Invader with a 115hp Merc and a 17 gallon tank. This is the same boat Team GW Invader put a 100 horse on and went 78mph.

New to this forum. I got this boat out of barn clean out (pic). Its a Columbian Fury 8' for the 1960's. I am in the process of restoring it in my basement(pic).
I cannot find pictures, posts or anything on this. If any one knows about these boats that would be helpful. As of right now I will assume it will take a HEMI.

My 13.5' tunnel hull build still coming along... Going to go with a 115 Pro XS for her this spring. Trailer is way overkill, I know, haha.
