	09-10-2016, 11:03 PM #1Melted piston in Chrome bore. Now what?I melted a piston in my chrome bore. 
 How tough are chrome bores?
 How do i determine if it needs a sleeve or not?
 can i take a propane torch and melt off the aluminum flakes?
 can i hone it?
 Basically how can i clean it up to see if its any good?
 I posted these photos before but not for this reason.
 The scratches you see, you actually cannot feel them. the flash makes them look worse than they are.
 The motor still rotates too.
 
 The rest of the cylinders look like this
 
 Did anyone else notice the big oval port?
 Deck height is 1.600 just like my Mod VP
 They are both 1984's. But thats a different subject.

 Dissolve the aluminium off the chrome.

	09-11-2016, 07:50 AM #4use muriatic acid on a qtip to melt it away, once u get the aluminum off if u have a suspect spot that u think went thru the chrome hit it with some muriatic acid, if it fizzes its thru the chrome. action mobile marine, 772 528 0754, dealers for aces fuel products,wolf efi, pro marine,latham and gaffrig/livorsi. we build gearcases and modify them(3 litre) to ratchet, and powerheads as well. 21 skater/3 litre wolf efi 113 mph the engine build http://www.screamandfly.com/showthre...-3-litre-build
