I saw something today that shocked me. Really.
Today I was in the checkout line at Publix supermarket, and there was this father there with (I assume) his son. The kid looks to be about 10 years old. So he pulls out an iPhone from his shorts and starts tapping away at it. That surprised me a bit - I mean, what would a kid so young need a cell phone for? Is this really commonplace now? I know it's the norm for teenagers to have cell phones and that's fine, but I was pretty surprised to see such a young kid with it. But that's not what shocked me.
Since the line was pretty long, this little kid was intently focused on the phone. His father is standing right next to him, and he is also using his own phone. I became curious and I nonchalantly decided to see what this kid could possibly be doing on a phone. Minecraft maybe? Angry Birds? Pokemon? No, he was watching hardcore porn. This is not an exaggeration; this kid was not watching some sex scene from a rated-R movie. It was very clearly raw porn. Mind you, his father is standing right next to him. I looked up at the father a few times and looked back at the kid. The kid just didn't seem to care that other people might see what he's watching - most especially his father, who was also totally consumed with the happenings on his own phone.
So naturally I was waiting for the moment when his father would catch his son watching porn, but it never happened. After a minute or two, the little kid calmly put his phone in his pocket and they moved right along in line.
That was a shockingly disturbing scene.

Kids just got it too easy these days. Back in my day, you had to wait until mom and dad left for the day, then scour the house for dad's hiding spot for the playboys. And then after all that work, just to find out all the pages with the chicks were stuck together for some reason.
Unfortunately, too many parents have found the electronic devices as an efficient way to keep kids in line. Kid acts up, mom hands them her phone, mom gets annoyed she doesn't have her phone, buy the kid a phone. I laugh that so many parents won't let their kids go out of their neighborhoods on their bikes for fear of what could happen, but have little to no knowledge of what's going on right in front of them. Sign of the times, as they say...

Some parents just don't care or think it's OK to let their child explore. The decay of morals is going to have a continued bad effect on society.

That would have been sickening to see. I am a fairly young parent, not quite 40 with a 16 yr old girl, 13 yr old girl, 9 yr old boy and another boy due in october. I look at the kids my kids go to school with and seriously wonder sometimes if they actually have parents at all, or if the kids run the roost. My kids may think I'm being nosy or intrusive when I want to know what they're up to, but when left to their own devices look at what can happen.... I'm proud to say my kids aren't the norm these days. They're educated, well spoken, have manners, respect, and morales. When we go out to restaurants and grocery stores, waitresses and cashiers are always complimenting them (and us) on their behaviour. It's nice to hear, but upsetting to know that for them our kids are the exception, not the norm. I blame the internet lol...

I see it too.
Some parents have an electronic baby sitter... "The Smart Phone"
They hand it to them and then go about doing other things...It's like they don't want to be bothered being a parent and give the child the phone with a game or movie playing just to get away from actual parenting...
Bad enough the contents of what is on the TV these days..."Programming us AND our children!!
"Grown Ups" are not any better....See it often enough..go to dinner and look around at the tables...someone within sight has a phone out doing something instead of interaction with who came to dinner with them. I can see if your by yourself eating alone..pull out the phone to do something while waiting for food.
These phones are remarkable with all they give us at our finger tips. Easy to abuse them too.
Love em...Hate em..

That kids should turn out great with a parent like that. He should pay attention to the kid and put his phone down.

Most of today's youth are a mess, it's not their fault. They have been raised that way, the parents are to blame.

the degradation of a society is how they have planned to overtake us since they lost WW2, our country has been infiltrated from within and now we are seeing the results. sex is an attractive distraction, along with drugs, and free things. a couple more generations, they will have it all, unless you love this country and vote TRUMP. FUN THE F OUT.

Wife goes through our 13 year olds history at least every couple of days. I'll be honest in saying that I don't want to be the one to do it, but to avoid being a lazy parent and do the right thing, I have and will.
Also, its not unusual for us to ask "whatcha' watching on the Mac?"You never know what your faith is, until your faith has been truly tested.
