Would the stacks disqualify it as a 75H? Looks like a vintage F Outboard Hydro. Alky burner.

Was there ever an F Stock class, either hydro or runabout? The only F class boats I ever saw were OPC and Outboard(alky).

It's not the correct mid or lower for a 75H. It is a very cool motor!!!

There originally was an F Stock class at the beginning of Stock racing. It lasted until about 1959 or 60. 75H specs were submitted to both Stock and Alky racing committees for approval. Not sure if Stock ever actually considered the 75H. In the early 1950's there were a few F entries in some of the prominent marathons ... but C's and D's usually beat them handily.

There is no Mark75H faceplate; 75H's used a stock 1958 faceplate. There were a few counterfeit "75H" faceplates made by altering 75A plates to appear to say 75H. One guy told me he did this before he learned that the 75H's used the regular front. In truth, the forgeries should be destroyed or at very least have a note painted on the inside to the fact that they are fake.

The foot is a nice Merc Speedmaster and the mid section is a very well done home made piece.

Pretty sure you will find the serial number is significantly out of the 75H serial number group, the compression is much lower than a 75H and it has none of the 3 possible 75H carbs. The pipes are Lon Stevens pipes from California.

Top speed for this motor on a hydro like this is probably about 75mph.

An alky compression 60 or 66 with Stevens or Fuschlin porting and good alky carbs and those pipes would go about 90mph on a more modern hydro. A modern F/850 runabout would only go a few mph slower.
