Great pic, the d200's had really good color rendition. One of the things that's slightly given up by some of the newer faster iso cameras imo.

    and 20-200 2.8? is that a typo? You meant 80-200 2.8 right? 20-200 2.8 would be a beast!!!

Thank you everyone - I have literally tens of thousands of photos in the 10 years I've been shooting the River Ranch. I have so many more I will be posting up of all of you.

Of interesting note in this photo: check out the high-pressure area under the starboard sponson. It looks like the the image is blurred there, but that's actually really fine water mist created by the very high pressure there.

The D200 is still a very good camera, despite being 'only' 10 megapixels. I keep a wide-angle lens on mine now and it's mainly a backup. I think the D200 always had good dynamic range, however its high-ISO performance was terrible, even by the standards of 2005. Anything over ISO 400 would be avoided if possible. I would usually underexpose purposely to gain higher shutter speeds, then compensate in Photoshop. This tended to control noise output better.

And yeah, that was a typo on the lens - sorry. I meant to say '70-200'. The 80-200 is also a very good lens. The 70-200 is mostly the same in terms of performance, but has a different focus mechanism and vibration reduction (which I never use anyway).

I've replaced it with a D300 in 2008 and have been shooting with that body ever since. My D300 is not so happy now - after 9 years of shooting on the water and BMX tests, it has serious calibration issues now and needs service. This is really my time to upgrade it to the D500, whenever those are in stock somewhere. But in the meantime, my old D300 will have to go back to Nikon for service.

I know that this thread was started by Greg to show the killer picture of Warren running, but I just got off the phone with Warren and he is in a bad place with his mother and her health. He has been living at the hospital day and night by her side for the last week. Please pray that she makes it through this and that our lord grants both of them strength needed throughout this process.

    Joe

I am so very sorry to hear. I did not know. I've gone through this so I do understand. I was wondering where Warren was here
