Talon 22 with Twin Yamaha's
So i figured i would share what i decided to do.
so the specs go like this.
Late 80's 225 Excel's both fresh rebuilds.
2003 HPDI pans and Cowls
Right and Left 1.87 Bobs coned lowers
34X15 hump back cleavers
in break in stage right now working out kinks trying to get the motors to run the same.
also found a couple yamaha wing plates to transfer the tiebar to the rear in the next few weeks.
pretty excited to see how fast she runs.

If you have the 1.80-1 gear ratio and turn some 32`s in the neighborhood of 6700rpm you should see some pretty nice speed`s. Excel`s are my favorite Yammie.

James,
I certainly hope you can get your pair of Excels to run right on that beautiful Talon. I had a 1989 Excel 225 on my 1989 Checkmate. From the day I took delivery of the boat, I - and multiple dealers - could not get the damn thing to run right. Don't get me wrong, it never caused me to get towed in. But getting it to run right - particularly in rough water - was apparently impossible. And the throttle response compared to my Mercury outboards was beyond lazy. I finally gave up and sold the boat after 3 years. The new owner promptly dumped the Excel for a 300X.1992 Progression 22

Boat looks great James. The Excell's original oil pumps had a diaphram in them and when it went bad they dumped in too much oil, not hurting the motor but performance, had this go on mine and I have installed the factory updated pump with the one way valves in the lines to fix this, other than that and the normal link and sync issues, I find these to be very strong motors . Both Jame's motors are updated.

Very nice.
As always, great to see different.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

The early pumps did not have stainless internals James good idea to change them . Having to buy four sucks though . I found a dealer in the us with NOS pumps on ebay a few years ago for mine.

Best looking Talon I think I have seen!
