2005 300x sluggish at take off intermittently
I just put a 2005 300x on my 20xdc Bullet. After I have idled a bit and I hit the throttle it seems to bogg bad and not spin up, I can let off the gas hit it again and it spools up and takes off. What's going on? Also having a bit of a seal problem with the sportsmaster, seals are holding pressure during test but leaking when I get out and run. Shift shaft and just replaced the drive shaft seal. I know it's a great motor, only has 86 hours just need to learn it and work the bugs out . Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried venting the propeller more ? Does it have pvs plugs ?

High pressure fuel pump inside vapor seperator. They start to fail.

First of all, test the gear case under vacuum.... They leak water in when they cool and "suck" the water in. That's why there are two seals on prop and drive shafts..one facing in and one facing out.
Also so, the reeds on these motors can cause problems with holeshot and can be erratic...if the engine has the original reeds, I would check the blocks close to see if the rubber coating is damaged in the corners.Go Time

Check your drive shaft where the water pump seals run. My 225X water pump seals wore through the chrome on the drive shaft and it began to rust. The roughness of the rust ate the seals just enough to create a leak. To fix shaft instead of $$$$$ for new driveshaft install two stainless steel Speed-i-sleeves for the seal to run on. This is what mine looked like with 120 hours.

I find if I have to idle my x I trim it up a little to keep fuel from pooling in the motor seems to help alot on take off after a long idle. Works for me.

And yes the rubber on the reed blocks gets burned in the corners and can cause sealing problems. Send them to Chris Carson and have the rubber removed, the blocks flattened and new reeds. That also worked for me.

I put the Lakeland marine kit on last year and have had no issues dealing or with the lower unit since. Just wish I knew why it was bogging, I've had a very reputable mechanic check it out and he said it looked great, counting a buddy that's two that said I was all good. It's just the initial time I get on it or after a longer idle. If I come off plane idle a second then put it to the floor it takes right off and motor runs perfect.
