Almost but no cigar.
After fighting the worst winter with arthritis and constant changing medicine, then getting my shortblock assembled and having the last bolt pop all the threads from the block at 35lb ft of torque while I stand there adjusting the torque wrench to 38, then having to take it all back apart so I could repair the threads, reassemble the whole thing and spent the day moving the garage around so I could get the boat out and drop the powerhead on....I realize I forgot to have the exhaust plate machined to the new block size. I had James open the exhaust outlet on the block to match the gasket while he had the block over the winter and I just forgot about doing the exhaust plate.
So I spent the better part of three hours yesterday afternoon with a nearly worn out bit in a DeWalt drill because my big air compressor died last summer and all I have now is a small 15 gallon noisy a$$ compressor that runs almost nonstop. I finally got one side close enough for now and will finish the other side up this afternoon hopefully then go over them with a better bit for cleaning it up and making it prettier. Hopefully I'll get the powerhead dropped on there Monday afternoon. I loved doing machine work the short time I did it and boy did i miss that Bridgeport yesterday. I guess this will be fine for my old boat, not as pretty or precise but hopefully work the same.

Thanks Dave,
It isn't perfect or as pretty as a mill would give but holding that heavy a$$ DeWalt drill head high and grinding those out was a chore. I can barely raise my arms today but it might get a little worse this afternoon if I get my nerve up. I might try to bear hug this powerhead and wrestle it up onto the midsection and start getting things back to working order.

I have a mill and spend more time trying to bolt the stuff down and get the angles right so most of the time you can just about get it done quicker by hand and the end result is the same. I have to laugh on here some times, people make alot of this out to be rocket science but the fact is factory engines run pretty good and the new lost foam castings look like crap, miss-matches everywhere glue joints covering half the port openings. Keep up the good work. Dave
